Coach and QB can both be wrong for different reasons. Yes, greater shot at the field goal, especially indoors. But the slow-motion of the offense, prepped, to line, snap - a little urgency in order?!

Oh, that was abysmal! So, was the penalty that moved Chicago all the way back from the 10 yard line! Wtf? Swallow the whistle at that stage of the game. Sheesh!

Once again evident in this game. The officiating sucked! No horse in the race. This season’s officiating has is the worst I’ve seen. Penny ante calls made, egregious fouls not called…. I know that’s a tough job but still? Did a bunch of veteran officials retire?

professor that's an easy TO and call two plays if they don't get OB on 3rd, get the ST ready to rush on the field to kick. The issue with Caleb is holding the ball and getting sacked. The coach should have called TO right away at 32s, but could have called it at any time before the ball was snapped and they would have been better off. That's inexcusable in my book. QB not quite ready for the big time, and the coach just let the team implode!

I did enjoy seeing that Detroit, while having a great season, might not be the juggernaut portended. There are some flaws in that team. Clearly exposed today.

Their flaws are injuries. Right now missing both starting DEs including the front runner for DPOY, one starting cornerback, two linebackers and a punt returner. That's off the top of my head. If they don't get healthier they will struggle in the playoffs.

That's the problems with stats. They don't encompass nor take into account how the offense puts opponents in particular predicaments, playing from behind - passing more because of that...blah, blah. I just liked seeing they're beatable.

That is correct. I've found what I posted is wrong. They are #5 in rushing defense & #25 in passing defense; # 12 in total. But are 2nd in TDs allowed; 19....10/9.

Like I said, at 11-1....any flaws are meaningless(their strengths outweigh them). They have learned how to overcome them and most likely will continue to do so.

You must be one of those fellas that has to remember your swing/talk to yourself on the golf course. You try to see too much in a game....when it is meaningless for how it is played & scored.😉

And, it never hurts any team to have the Zebra's seemingly pulling for them? Another "stat" that's not measured.

Those stats indicate a couple things. One, seems the Lions play most games with the lead. I wonder how experienced and competent they are at 4th quarter comebacks?
They have a competent running game. I always view a reliance on and ability to run the ball almost a defensive statistic as it preserves the number of snaps the defense is on the field.
The lowly passing defense stat tells little because one would need to assess it's value in conjunction with scoring defense - that latter stat being perhaps the most important? Because that's the stat that fosters success with the most critical of all statistics - those 'measured' with a letter instead of a number - "W's" or "L's".

Nope, not accurate on the first part, thank you Harvey Penick's "Little Red Book", although attributed to Ben Hogan. One "swing thought" for me. "Soft Hands" - light grip. The latter part of what I quoted? I'm not getting your point. Simply, Detroit played poorly enough to lose to a dreadful Chicago team and displayed an inability after dominance in the first half to put their opponent away. I like seeing that. LOL

Just to clarify, apparently that play was supposed to be a quarterback draw but the RT completely whiffed on the DE so he was on Williams almost right away. Hard to blame that on the QB - goes back to the playcalling. Why not a quick pass instead?

And he held the ball too long on that last play. Even 'just a good' QB will always know the time and would have grounded the ball to kill the clock, instead of trying to be the hero. They were only looking for a few yards(not needed with their kicker btw), not a TD. Dumbass...Stupid kid. Happy the Bears have him, as they deserved him.

While Everflubs is a problem himself, Caleb is a bigger problem. Not learning the Pro game yet!

The whole point of any game is to win, do whatever it takes to win. It is what the Lions did, and that is not flawed in any manner. You will never see a perfect game in the NFL by any team, nor will you ever see a perfect round by any golfer.
