johnnydoom Not quite sure why Buffalo just gave them everything underneath with time on the clock and only field goals needed to tie, but I suppose they had their reason. Hurts seemingly made the right decision every time, and (as always) was calm and confident.
After analytics-driven changes in many areas (be more aggressive on 4th and short, more play-action, etc.) in recent years, the next big area where thinking needs to change could be how to defend against an end-of half/game drive. It seems to me that too many teams go back to what has been the default for years (don't give up the long pass), which leaves the relatively short and reliable passes to the (uncovered) middle of the field for 10-15 yards wide open - these only take 20 seconds even if the team on offence doesn't have a timeout, so it's often relatively straightforward for a team to pick up 40-50 yards and get into field goal range even if they're only able to run 3 or 4 plays before time runs out.
