professor Happy the Eagles took a shot at Jalen Hurts in the second round of the 2020 draft! His "character" would have shown through and so too his athleticism. His abilities as a passer were highly suspect at the time. Always nice to win a gamble.
There's a lot to be said for the way that the Green Bay management team of the 1990s managed the quarterback position - draft/add at least one QB each year, even if you already have a top-end starter. Even with Brett Favre entrenched as the starter from the 1992 season on, the Packers drafted several QBs between 1992 and 1999 who started games (for other teams) and had long careers - Ty Detmer, Mark Brunell, Matt Hasselbeck, Aaron Brooks. Depth at quarterback is always a good thing to have, and there's usually good return on a trade if you end up in the fortunate position of having too many starter-level QBs...
(It is a little bit more difficult to do this now, as the restrictions on practice time make it more difficult to develop a young QB, but still seems like something that's worth doing given how valuable even career backup QBs are.)
