Many many moons ago, I thought one of the reasons why the bears passing attack was so dismal was weather related. Then Favre showed up.πŸ˜‚

MartinD Don't get me started on Trubisky!πŸ˜„
He may well have been the best QB Chicago ever had.... as stats show, and due to coaching staff he was run outta town. Of course we all know that was assbackwards, and the coaches did follow soon on the same path.
Hard to amass the total yardage he had when relegated to dink/dunk passing games.

His being let go proves what I say about the Bears and QBs.
If Bagent comes in and does something spectacular, he's a goner also, history proves me right. They have had a few backups that came in, did almost 'great' for several games, then were gone at season's end.
Chicago Bears DO NOT WANT a good, nor possibly great, QB!! I will die on that hill.........

And for the life of me, I cannot understand why they keep drafting QBs, esp. at #1. Must be a bunch of sick minded bastards up there needing to ruin (possible) careers.....as they are wont to do with their QBs.

Now that I'm on a bears roll.
Back in late 80s, bears had a playoff game against the 49ers/Montana in soldiers Field. The weather forecast called for real cold weather.
Well the press here in Chi-town played up how macho and physical the Bears are and many of the players were not wearing long sleeves. 49ers could not possibly win because of the weather etc..
Well, you can probably guess what happened. Joe looked like he was in his back yard.

I always thought Trubisky was pretty decent. We got Geno Smith πŸ˜‚I think I’d rather have Mitch. At least he could run.

I liked Mitch but of course Bears paid way too much for him as respects the draft.
He really never did much after the bears. A good backup QB

bigshank didn't follow him closely but I thought he had one or two big years? Looked like ha had good potential.

Part of Trubisky's relatively poor reputation is due to the quarterbacks taken after him in that draft, who both ended up being about as good as a team could hope for (onfield, at least!) through their rookie contracts - he'll always be the guy who was taken ahead of Patrick Mahomes (and Deshaun Watson).

MartinD Had he gone to a passing team, his history might have been much different.

Chicago hasn't needed a QB for many, many years. They should just designate a RB that can call plays and put him in the backfield. They see that, they understand that, but to 'keep face', they just keep killing potentially great QBs*.

*Fields was a good choice for them though. If only they had fattened him up a bit and would quit calling passing plays. jmo🀣

Mitch started only 1 year at North Carolina. Left after junior year. Bears took him 2nd pick in draft. 49ers fleeced the bears for the opportunity to pick Mitch.
All for a back up qb in the league.
It's not like the starting Steelers QB is a stud.πŸ˜‚

Trubisky's first four years in Chicago he averaged over 30 passes a game. That's a decent amount to say the least.

garyt1957 So, you must be thinking that a (less than) 7 yard average from over 1000 completed passes is good.

Justin Fields only needs to look at Trubisky's record/stats, and then look at his own(2023).....98 passes completed...6 games... for a 6.5 average.... to see his immediate future!!

The Chicago Bears team.......a wasteland for Pro QBs.

Hopefully, future QBs in the draft will 'stand their ground', when Chicago comes calling!!

When Covid started, there was famously a sign at a bar or restaurant in Chicago that explained the 6-feet 'social distancing' by saying that 6 feet was about how far away Trubisky's passes were from the intended receiver.

              rsvman2 😲Stop it!!

Career completion % of 64 is not so bad, imo. And why were the receivers not where they were supposed to be???πŸ˜‰

Yet the Bears are so high on this kid they now have with a 60%. πŸ€”He'll be a good backup somewhere next season, just not in Chitown.

Mitch has been on 3 teams now, and can’t crack the starting lineup since the Bears. He’s a good backup, that’s all. As of now he has earned 46 million dollars.

Par4QC The Chicago Bears team.......a wasteland for Pro QBs.

It is kind of weird (and cool at the same time) to look at their quarterback history and see that Sid Luckman (1939 - 1950), who died at a good age 25 years ago, is second on the all time yardage list! Way to go Sid!
