Part of Trubisky's relatively poor reputation is due to the quarterbacks taken after him in that draft, who both ended up being about as good as a team could hope for (onfield, at least!) through their rookie contracts - he'll always be the guy who was taken ahead of Patrick Mahomes (and Deshaun Watson).

MartinD Had he gone to a passing team, his history might have been much different.

Chicago hasn't needed a QB for many, many years. They should just designate a RB that can call plays and put him in the backfield. They see that, they understand that, but to 'keep face', they just keep killing potentially great QBs*.

*Fields was a good choice for them though. If only they had fattened him up a bit and would quit calling passing plays. jmo🤣

Trubisky's first four years in Chicago he averaged over 30 passes a game. That's a decent amount to say the least.

Mitch started only 1 year at North Carolina. Left after junior year. Bears took him 2nd pick in draft. 49ers fleeced the bears for the opportunity to pick Mitch.
All for a back up qb in the league.
It's not like the starting Steelers QB is a stud.😂

Justin Fields only needs to look at Trubisky's record/stats, and then look at his own(2023).....98 passes completed...6 games... for a 6.5 average.... to see his immediate future!!

Hopefully, future QBs in the draft will 'stand their ground', when Chicago comes calling!!

It is kind of weird (and cool at the same time) to look at their quarterback history and see that Sid Luckman (1939 - 1950), who died at a good age 25 years ago, is second on the all time yardage list! Way to go Sid!

Never said he was good. I thought you said Chicago doesn't let their QB's throw. He seemed to throw a lot, just not effectively.

When Covid started, there was famously a sign at a bar or restaurant in Chicago that explained the 6-feet 'social distancing' by saying that 6 feet was about how far away Trubisky's passes were from the intended receiver.

Yet the Bears are so high on this kid they now have with a 60%. 🤔He'll be a good backup somewhere next season, just not in Chitown.

Mitch has been on 3 teams now, and can’t crack the starting lineup since the Bears. He’s a good backup, that’s all. As of now he has earned 46 million dollars.

DonM He was brought to Pittsburg as their #1 and did start 5 games in '22.
He signed a 2 year extension this Spring. So, like the LIV golfers, he just 'took the money.' Apparently.

Could be lots of reasons, the receivers can't get open downfield, they can't get any yards after catch, the QB panics too quickly and checks down to fast, or the QB just sucks.
