All tires are simply not just 'all made the same'. Depending on the area you live, and travel, and seasons, it's best to do some fact checking for the proper tire.
When we bought our car 3 years ago, it did have nearly new tires on it, but I did not like something I saw in them. So, scouring the internet for 2-3 days, I made the decision to replace, and what to buy. Took the car into Firestone, told them what I wanted, and headed to the wait area. Car is done, go to counter and the guy tells me they did not have the tires I wanted.(insert very strange Rex look here). He then said they put 'something better' on and even though they were much higher priced, they are actually charging me less than what I wanted.(face still frozen with the strange look). After the blue smoke cleared, I paid, then went on my way. The tires have been great, although they only have around 6K miles on them since(3 yrs.). I'd have to go out and see what they are as I got no clue sitting here now. But, I did recognize the name when he told me and remembered reading up on them in my search. Otherwise, there would have been black smoke from the flames, with them doing such a thing to a customer.
