OK... I went for the fitting... it IS amazing. Warmed up a bit with some irons. He had put a few more shafts together for me based on what some of my numbers were that I sent him.
We started off with me hitting my own driver and the 3 shafts I had for it. All go the same distance...not good but whatever. he said to me, " geez, you hit that great". I said, " yeah well I think there is more". Frank said,' There is and we'll find it".
We basically agreed on the M2 head. Hit the 9.5 good but the 10.5 gave me more better launch but it was splitting hairs. We first arrived at the ideal weight and then crunched numbers from there. Tried a few other heads too but nothing really worked as well nor set up at well for me.
Amazingly, frank comes up with a HZRDUS yellow shaft...counterbalanced. I loved it and hit it the best. The was a Kiyoshi counterbalanced I hit about as well but he liked the yellow better since it was more ball speed with less clubhead speed.
Handful of shafts really and just his expertise you get to the right shaft pretty quickly and then find nothing better. I was there about 3 hours or so. Best thing about the fitting is, ball speed is king. I think people think they need their "A" swing to get fit. He just needs a smattering of good shots. For some reason, I think it was just where I was hitting from, alignment etc... I hit alot of fades. BUT he looks to see how solid and would ask me how it felt all the time.
Driver fitting with Frank is off the bucket list...seriously. I did not want to die NOT knowing how far I could hit a driver with the proper equipment. my iron fitting opened my eyes to a fitting...never shot over par all year.
In the end I picked up 6 mph in ball speed and 15 yards vs my own driver...and again, that's with a driver I just hit today some. I expect once I get more comfortable hitting it, probably 20 yards.
Here's the link...do it. Frank is the only reason I have to not move!
