I play equally bad with both. Played blades through the 90’s and then sometime around 2005 I decided I wasn’t good enough for them. Switched to cavity back and didn’t really gain anything. I miss the feel and look of the blades, but there’s no point in going back now.

Game improvement with their forgiveness is what I gravitate towards. Play the TM Sim Max OS irons now. Before that I played the Ping G400’s. Still have them.

When I demoed the TM Sim Max OS irons they had the fastest ball speeds for me as well. I’ve always been able to check my ego and play what works best.

As I’ve said in another thread I could easily play a set of wide soled ironwoods and not miss a beat.

Nothing I would like better than to play an all fairway woods/hybrid set and shoot scores like Typhoon does , just to blow people's minds.

In general fairway woods from 43" to 40" are the hardest clubs to hit in the bag for average golfers. Tight lies with longer playing length. If you can master that playing length off tight lies then golf becomes much easier. That's the big bugaboo for most recreational golfers. Irons just aren't that hard to play because of their playing length.

I go by my 80% rule. If you can't hit 8 out of 10 good shots with a club then don't carry it's just costing you strokes.

My only 80% clubs are probably Driver, Pw, Gw, Sw, putter.

And yet fir me anyway, my g400 3w 5w 7w are super accurate and consistent for me. I cant hit hybrids.

I'm serious Rick! Think about that 80% comb your bag and pull out all the clubs you can't hit play a few rounds and watch your scores get better or no worse than you are now. Most wil find they can play a 44" driver and hit a lot of frwys. Pull out the longer playing length tight lie clubs. Hit a hybrid off the tight lies, use irons out of the rough and manage the course better and all those duffs, ugly tops, turning the sod over the ball going 5 yards will cease. Frustration level much lower. 😜

I am not doubting you Scott. I have only played 5 times this year so the rust is still there. Next time out I will have the Wishon 919thi back in and the Integra I-drive hybrids which I hit very well last time out. I didn't like the wedges but the 6,7, 8 I hit well and picked up a 5h to add next round. I also have an Integra flipper chipper that is working well and I haven't shanked it once.

sdandrea1 yeah that’s where I’m at too. Good thing I’m pretty long off the tee. On the short 9 holer I play most often, driver - wedge usually gets ‘er done

Absolutely nothing attractive about them.....agree. They're all function and no beauty.

I gotta be somewhere in the middle with irons. But I did buy another hybrid so that makes a 23, and 27 degree ping rapture hybrid. Then G5’s 6-pw. I can hack with anything but this gives me decent odds.

My best scores have been shot with Goldsmith P2 and Gigagolf Ozzy's.
