Last year after a shoulder injury I decided to reshaft my playing clubs to lighweight steel, but I had a bit to much of them: 3 sets of irons, 1 set of hybrids and 3 sets of wedges that needed reshafting. I decided to reshaft only the clubs I enjoyed playing most. So this winter I got rid of the extra stuff including drivers, fairways and shafts that were collecting dust, so I'm down to:
2 drivers (one for precision, one for distance, switching back and forth depending on the course I'm playing)
2 fairway woods (#5 and #7, both in the bag; I no longer even own a #3 wood for the 1st time in my life)
1 set of irons (3-Pw) (all in the bag but the #3)
1 set of hybrids (3-6) (all as spares for when I get realy old)
3 wedges (all in the bag)
3 putters (1 in the bag, 1 to practice at home, 1 is still looking for a new owner)
A couple of spare shafts for the above
2 trophy clubs : a replica Arnold Palmer putter and the driver I played at the Old Course
I feel so naked now I'm building a 2nd set of wegdes of the old Dynasteel heads I kept. A journey of more then 25 years of trying and building all kind of clubs, to come back to almost the same clubheads in the bag as I had at the turn of the millenium. Why change what is working for you and you enjoy playing?
