Tinker looks like a fairly easy layout for the pros

Lots of moisture to start with.
Wait an hour or two and then check again.

Max Homa on pace for 43 putts on his round. When we played there several years ago my good friend had 40 putts in regular non Open conditions.

golf_bhoy What time does the wind arrive ..?

It arrived and about 1.5 clubs worth of it.
Afternoon wave at a disadvantage today.

Par4QC I’m far FAR from a pro, but have pro level club head speed. When you hit the ball that far, you go with what your most consistent shot is, you don’t try to force hitting it “straight” every time. Your misses get magnified by a LOT, a couple degrees of face angle off and you aren’t near the fairway, for example, how much further off line are you with a pulled 9 iron vs a pulled hybrid? Generally, quite a bit, because the ball had more time to exaggerate that miss. The same thing is true for the average golfer’s drive vs the pros, your drive (sorry just throwing out basic numbers here), might be in the fairway at 220 yards, but if it continued another 80 yards, on the same line, would it be? If it came off the face with more side spin and 50mph faster, would it be as easy to locate it? It’s all fun and games to hit it long, but it’s a very sharp, double edged sword.

DC300 Yeah, my point was if they would hit straight shots, they wouldn't be as bad off as all those draws/fades/cuts. Those shape shots can get out of hand a lot nastier/quicker, when not hit perfectly. Any wind gusts, any slant to fw, and you got a huge miss. Straight shots, not so much. And, imo, they'd be in the fw more often than their meager 60%...hell some only hit in the low 50%. It's why their iron play is so good. But how good would it be if shots were all in shorter grass? Maybe 58 would be nothing, for some of them.

If a hole is 350 and you can comfortably hit it 230 in the fairway why would you risk swinging like a wild man?

        It's in our DNA?

Back to wives and watching golf. Mine hates golf, but never really says much about my disease or me playing, when I'm healthy. I watch here and there during the days, except majors. I try to watch more, like today. All she does is piss, moan and complain. She loves tennis and watches the majors pretty religiously for the 6-8 weeks them sunsabitches last. I don't mind and really enjoy watching the ladies. I just tell her, you don't like it, go somewhere ELSE and leave me the fuck alone. Double standards are bullshit.

Spuzz Not terrible and no bucket hat. I wouldn't wear that combo but seen much worse.

What does Bryson have in his ear???

And, could the golf gods give NBC a Bryson Brooks playoff tomorrow?

DonM And, could the golf gods give NBC a Bryson Brooks playoff tomorrow?

No Monday playoff at the US Open now - the USGA changed this to a 2-hole aggregate score playoff a few years ago.
