Here on Hilton Head, SC it's in the 60's and cloudy. Only about 2/3 of our courses have reopened since the hurricane, so the open ones are really crowded.
Didn't play today. Took the dogs out last night and the ground was covered with slush, although it had melted shortly after the sun came up this morning. Too muddy. Cart-path only. Plantar Fasciitis.
Oh well.
Fecking snow....really hadn't planned on the season being over. Crap.
Only good thing was my streak of zero rounds over par this year remained intact.
Did not play today either. It was 32 at 11am with wind 5-8 mph. Not high wind, but with the wind chill it was about 27 or lower. I used to play in that weather, but not any longer. No sun today so no play today. Friday it will be a high of 50* so we will be out playing in mid 40's weather. I hate sitting in the house all day. The wife and I shot pool in the house. We have real nice table in the family room. Often when we play pool we pour a glass of wine and have some chocolate with it.
Temp 25. Windchill 5. (21mph wind)
Snow for this weekend.
Temps in the mid/lower teens next week.
FML!
I live in a townhouse, which is perfect for me and the wife and two dogs. That's the only reason I don't already own a billiard table... not enough room.
I played a lot back in my military days, when I lived in the barracks. Bought a custom stick for $200 (back in '88) which back then was a lot of money, at least for a guy who only cleared 800 bucks a month. I got pretty good, at least good enough to win more money than I lost anyway. I've not played in years, but could easily get back into it if I had a room big enough to put a table. I've always found it to be a very enjoyable game.
I never was very good. When I was in high school I would go to the back of the pool hall because all the good sticks took the first half dozen tables. A lot of guys came back to play me because we played for time not for money. Loser pays for the table. The only time I played well was when our fast pitch softball league had a banquet. They had a pool table there and all these guys were pretty good. Winner keeps playing. Finally got my turn, the game was 8 ball. I broke and ran the table. Put the stick down and called it a night. Quit while I was ahead.
No golf for quite a while... 10 degrees and expecting around 5" of snow tomorrow. The past 3-4 days saw wind from 30-45 mph in our area. Next week's forecast is calling for high temps in the single digits and lows overnight in the minus single digits. It will normally get colder yet through about the end of January. I can remember a week in the late 1960's when it reached minus 30 or lower every night. We don't see that anymore though (global warming??). Luckily we have seldom seen minus 20's in the past 5 years.
Light dusting of snow on the ground in the northern parts of the Lehigh Valley this afternoon. Cold, windy, real-feels of 25ยบ for the afternoons this weekend.
I guess I'll be watching the Army vs Navy game tomorrow.
Go Army!
Too damn cold to have the door up. I'm a officially a *****!
Snowned in Seattle last night for a few hours
Snowed up and down the Puget Sound !
First time this Winter had snow stuck to the pavement. Although the City sanded and salted the streets yesterday A.M. most of the salt had been blown to the side of the street before the evening snow so the fish will get salted instead of melting the snow.
They did a good job clearing the freeway and the main artery roadways. Getting out of the driveway and the side street this morning required 4x4 motion.
Although, we enjoyed the streets being less crowded as those probably called in sick or simply delayed their schedule by a few hours.
Nothing like this one year which dumped one foot of snow in one hour which basically paralyzed the City with unprepared motorists got stuck on the hilly streets we have.
Snowing in the mountain range East of where you live ?
Cool for here 72 with morning showers. Should return to mid 80's all next week in South Florida.
