Right. WITHOUT the teacher telling the student what is the right conclusion. Teach them to THINK and your job is done other than presenting the various schools of thought. We have teachers teaching activism in the classroom so to speak. This way to think is right and the only way without even mentioning another school of thought unless in a disparaging way. That is not teaching. That is programming and inherently dangerous. You dont teach someone to think liberally or conservatively. You present the arguments for both, as unbiased as possible, and let the student think their way through it where they know if they choose they aren't out of line with what the teacher wishes for them to choose.
EDIT: Really the idea of education at a certain point becomes something else than what it is. A person can learn all these things they could know at any university by reading. Like the famous line from Good Will Hunting.... 'You wasted $150000 on an education you coulda got for $1.50 in late fees at the public library.'
Ultimately, going to someone to be educated is abdicating your own ability and responsibility to be educated. This applies at a certain point for all of us. I can learn ANYTHING I want to and can be BETTER than anyone schooled at the finest university if I want to. When I choose to go to university, I'm saying I can't do it on my own, and need YOU to teach me. You grant power to those teaching you because it is likely they have an agenda for what they wish for you to know and believe.
It's kind of like you taking your club into someone to have them pull the heads when you can do it yourself. There are things I outsource because I don't know, but I run the risk of being taken advantage of. Same thing applies to education. You incur all the biases and agendas the particular place and professor who is educating you has. When you choose to do it on your own you can read many different schools of thought and determine which is right. Just being taught one line of thinking may leave you very upset when one day you learn you could've been shown several others that you believe make a lot more sense. Wouldn't be an issue if we taught instead of programmed.
