Thanks gentlemen for your responses. Up here in Canada we report our numbers differently so I have to do some math to compare my numbers. Good to hear that statins have minimal side effects as I believe this may be my ultimate fate as my liver loves producing cholesterol. I know diet only has a small impact but I'm hoping that the combination of diet+exercise +supplements +intermittent fasting is enough to keep me safe. The plan is to do this for a few more months then get retested and go from there.
Intermittent fasting isn't that difficult and going plant- based is not too bad either. I still eat fish and do eat some meat occasionally but in very small amounts, e.g. when I bbq steak for the family, I'll drool at the dinner table lol and succumb to a few bites but not the whole steak.
Weight loss will be a harder challenge because I want to have a nutritious diet but the stuff that's good for cholesterol is also high fat/calories. My daily oatmeal plus full servings of hemp seeds, chia seeds, flax, and nuts add up to over 1000 calories which don't leave me many calories the rest of the day.
Anyways, thanks for the replies gents!
