I had them a couple of times and ho'd them away like you did. I loved the things, so I don't know why I got rid of them once much less twice.

@Walterjn They are very interesting. Very unusual irons. Nothing else comes to mind that is similar.

EDIT: The original Zevo Compressor FW's were the best. I had a 3 wood I could absolutely pummel the ball with. Let a golfing buddy borrow it (big mistake) and he fell in love with it and wanted to buy it, so I sold it to him. Got some rebrand version of the 5 wood, but that thing SUCKS in comparison.

Hatton's looked OK but did not "feel' like forged at ALL. As in most things in life you get what you pay for. There are major brands with large marketing budgets for the name droppers and minor brands with low marketing budgets both can have great quality it's up to the consumer to research and figure out what will be good for them and what may not. Caveat emptor.

Many of these generic heads are very similar to PING Eye 2 shape.

@sdandrea1 You ever buy any of the stuff that mimicked Ping to see if it was comparable? I just saw one of the many Ping copies on eBay the other day and it made me laugh. Stupidest name ever for golf equipment, Pal Joey.

Please, tell me you've hit Pal Joey stuff before.

Toulon I've never hit any of the Pal Joey but I think they may have been an early offering from Dynacraft right after the Ping Eye 2 was released. I was never interested much in the clone heads of the time...preferred the components from Golfsmith as I felt they were more of a quality product as opposed to the knock-offs, and they had Tom Wishon designing them...

I built and played Tour Model II ZING clones, but never Pal Joey. With decent shafts, most of the knockoffs play well enough if the loft, lie and weight specs are close.

Had a set of Ping i3 OS clones for a year... Ditched them for the original i3 Blade the following year I played for quite awhile... Can't remember the name

I understand the lack of interest. One of the things I did when I started getting into equipment is have somoene build me a set of Cleveland CG-Golds clones. They weren't too bad. Had FST shafts in them but I never went back to any type of clones. Just something I wanted to try...once.

Now, that I ponder all of the equipment I had the great fortune to use, mostly through the use of eBay and FGI,shafts make all the difference. I feel pretty certain I could take any head and put it on a shaft I love and love the club. The reverse is not true. Putting the wrong shaft on any head ruins it.

Just talking about all this does get the juices flowing. I've had a set of Gold's factory shafts sitting in my closet from way back to my earliest days on FGI. Never used them. I think they're much softer shafts than what I normally would play and I think I'd love them and have always needed a softer flex. Heck, I'd even put some Pal Joey's on there to find out. 🙂

I gotta believe Steve has tried his fair share of Ping clones. Curious to hear what his feedback is. I know it'll be hard for him to say anything too good about something that isn't Ping.

Harvey Penick....had a set of the irons which I sold to my buddy....he still has them. They had the beveled top line. Had the red river putter too....pretty sure I sold the putter on fgi.

I had a set of knock offs from Diamond Tour Golf maybe 18 years ago or so. I forget what they were called. They seemed OK. Sold them to a golf buddy at the time who was getting back into golf.

Another golf buddy just got fit for some KZG irons. Played with him this past Monday and he was just getting use to them. But he seemed to like them.

Oh yeah.....Acer XP Pro's were 💰 .... Who coined the phrase players shovels ... haven't heard that one in quite a while.

The Snake Eyes Python XL was solid gold. That and the Dynacraft Avatar xMOI. The first of the really stretched out heads that performed really well for me. Python XL had a better feel to it then the xMOI, which had a tiny bit if a hollow feel. Both really forgiving!
