Funny you mentioned them. I saw a set of Henry Hatton black irons on eBay during the same search I took my picture posted here from and recalled someone used to have them in their signature line on FGI.

I played (and still have) the Henry Hatton DTG-3 irons from Diamond Tour. I actually got my 2nd hole in one with them. Great irons. I built them with Mercury Savage Steel shafts. I actually got these after I had a set of Golfsmith Tour Cavity Forged (that weren't actually forged) irons. I like split cavity irons.

Gigagolf forged heads are from open designs. Very good quality, too.

My whole bag was GigaGolf for about 2 years. They are decent, inexpensive custom clubs for those who can't afford to, or don't want to break the bank on golf clubs.

Don't know if this is what you have in mind... I really liked the old Golfsmith XPC line of club heads they had. Sold quite a few sets of them when I had a shop...In fact, I spoke to a high ranked local amateur last week at the Robert Morris University Sports Bubble who is still playing a set of the CPC 3 irons I made more years ago than I care to remember. I made him 2 identical sets and he also bought 3 sets of the heads for the future. Told me he keeps looking at new offerings but nothing feels or plays as good as those to him...

Yes...anything that someone would consider non-brand name. The more obscure the better. 😉 That's a GREAT story you shared. Gotta make you feel good for making him something he enjoys as much as he does.

I own a set of these. Bought them on the bay for about 30 bucks some years ago. I've hit all kinds of irons from clones to expensive name brands. Feel as good as anything I've ever hit. That may have been due to the shafts. I think they're the only R flex shafted irons I've ever owned. I grew up on a Walter Hagen Ultra Flex set with "uni-flex" shafts, so, perhaps, I should've been playing softer flex irons and why the Spiders feel so good to me.

I bought just heads recently.

If you consider Snake Eyes generic, it was my favorite. Killer Bee was cool too!

So many times I was close to buying something that was "Killer Bee" but just never did. Had some Snake Eyes FC-01 that were black. Looked cool, but didn't like them like most things I bought that I thought looked cool.

The worst of all-time was a brand new set of Pixl irons. Used to be fascinated by their putters, and saw they'd put out an iron, so I just had to have them. Hit them at the range and they remain my least favorite and disappointing purchase of all my hoing.

Cue the horror music...

Now, I'm thinking of Zevo z1's! Those were some fantastic irons from a boutique company that has long been defunct although their name was purchased.

I had them a couple of times and ho'd them away like you did. I loved the things, so I don't know why I got rid of them once much less twice.

@Walterjn They are very interesting. Very unusual irons. Nothing else comes to mind that is similar.

EDIT: The original Zevo Compressor FW's were the best. I had a 3 wood I could absolutely pummel the ball with. Let a golfing buddy borrow it (big mistake) and he fell in love with it and wanted to buy it, so I sold it to him. Got some rebrand version of the 5 wood, but that thing SUCKS in comparison.

I still have one of the original Killer bee driver's in my basement. They were Sooo long back then. Now they're basically standard length

Hatton's looked OK but did not "feel' like forged at ALL. As in most things in life you get what you pay for. There are major brands with large marketing budgets for the name droppers and minor brands with low marketing budgets both can have great quality it's up to the consumer to research and figure out what will be good for them and what may not. Caveat emptor.

Many of these generic heads are very similar to PING Eye 2 shape.

@sdandrea1 You ever buy any of the stuff that mimicked Ping to see if it was comparable? I just saw one of the many Ping copies on eBay the other day and it made me laugh. Stupidest name ever for golf equipment, Pal Joey.

Please, tell me you've hit Pal Joey stuff before.

Toulon I've never hit any of the Pal Joey but I think they may have been an early offering from Dynacraft right after the Ping Eye 2 was released. I was never interested much in the clone heads of the time...preferred the components from Golfsmith as I felt they were more of a quality product as opposed to the knock-offs, and they had Tom Wishon designing them...

I built and played Tour Model II ZING clones, but never Pal Joey. With decent shafts, most of the knockoffs play well enough if the loft, lie and weight specs are close.

Had a set of Ping i3 OS clones for a year... Ditched them for the original i3 Blade the following year I played for quite awhile... Can't remember the name
