Par4QC pretty harsh. They'll never get their pensions back but given what the brass gets in compensation, the workers have been screwed

propman Ever take a gander at other companies, such as John Deere? See what their quarterly/yearly net profits are, and see what their products sell for? Then look at what their employees earn. I'd say those employees are damn well taken care of.
The profits of a company is of nobody's damn business except for owners/shareholders, when they are well paid.
All UAW members are well paid, if not grossly overpaid.

signed: Former UAW member-steward/worker** that was totally against the outrageous raises we sought/received.

**The company shut down several factories due to.......overhead!!!

propman They'll never get their pensions back but given what the brass gets in compensation, the workers have been screwed

All employment is 'at will'. Don't like the job/pay......quit !!

Well they pay union dues, so before they quit, they'll probably see how much the uaw can squeeze from the corp bigwigs.😄
We'll see how this ends up pretty soon, imho.

propman We'll see how this ends up pretty soon

I think it's going to get very cold for the picket lines.
Turning down, flat cold, 20%+ is more than out of line. And wanting in excess of $300K/year is just something from a Rod Serling episode.

BTW....I was in the same local union that Dennis Williams was. Hell of a nice guy, but now he's in prison. And I'm not.🤣 I bought my new golf clubs with money earned/worked for.

Who is going to make $300,000 a year? From what I hear, the avg hourly union wage is $30 something.
The starting wage was $15.xx back in 2008 and hasn't gone up since.
What's the ford CEO making? $30 mil! I'm sure his underlings aren't doing too bad either.🤮

propman What's the ford CEO making? $30 mil!

See, that's the mentality of union workers.....'how much is someone else is making'!! None of their business, nor should it be a concern to them/for them. They applied for and took the positions they are currently in, at the wages/duties that came with. TOTALLY different place than where that CEO applied.

I see cherry picking. The avg Joe or some say the middle class should receive a living wage.
I see so much verbal crap about how everyone is so concerned about the middle class. Talk is cheap.

propman Probably how I grew up makes me say...people already making that kind of money (and I do think that kind of money is already huge) should not be thinking of making more for themselves, but should think how to help others make the same.

They are not on equal footing with those running the biz, same as their neighbors may not be on equal footing with them. Do they/would they 'share' their income with the neighbor if demanded????? I think not.

propman I'd have to think extremely hard and long to think of ANYONE in the world worth kind of pay. imo, there is no one.
Just a thought, but that may be what's wrong with this ol' place.😉

It's a wonder NFL coaches don't all walk out🤣. Some college coaches make more.

Well I have to admit, I would be real pissed off if I was a uaw worker knowing what the csuite makes.

Hey, Bruce may have been a blue collar guy back in the day😆.
Maybe, Ted Nugent will offer his wisdom on the matter.

Par4QC See, that's the mentality of union workers.....'how much is someone else is making'!! None of their business, nor should it be a concern to them/for them.

How much a corporate big wig is making is not justification for the value of the work being performed. You wanna get rich? Start or buy a car company.

Typhoon If the plants stay closed Bruce Springsteen will write a song about it.

              Or Billy Joel.

propman In the long run, they will be farther behind that CEO pay, if they strike.
                $30/hr. x 40= $1200/wk.

                Strike lasts 8 weeks= $9600 lost wages
Strikers win the 9% raise they 'need'.
                $2.70/hr/ x 40=$108/wk. x 52wks.=$5616.
Almost 2 years to get back to even!!!

Take the damn 5% and be ahead, idiots.

Either way, the price of new vehicles will go up 12%.
You will never beat the company.

Avg price of a car is supposedly $48,000. A uaw worker ( on high end) makes $6x,xxx.

johnnydoom Price a new John Deere combine!!! Or even just a tractor. Those guys make less than $30. And the company has billions in profit. Every quarter!!
