Spuzz Yeah I used to have a 100g steel shaft in my 3 wood and now it's 75g. I couldn't seem to make the 75g work in a 7 or even 5 wood though. Thinking if I make one of those I will have to try 85g or so. My last 7 wood that worked had 85-90g fairway shaft. My hybrid has a 95g shaft and I think it's 41" so essentially a small 7 wood.

Spuzz I'm not sure I could find a heavier shaft for my swing speed...or lack of. I'm getting older and slower, but still wonder if my shafts should be a bit heavier still rather than using the backweights.

Crisis averted for now. In the hour that I have diddled others have gone and seized the day. All of the items that might have fit my specs are gone.

KCee rather than using the backweights.

I hate them FWIW.
My pinky 6 iron hybrid has an old school UST Proforce gold 95 iron shaft in it but I doubt I would use it for anything longer length than a 6h.
Might work for you though, if you minus the backweighting.
Or, try some KBS lightweight iron shafts since the balance point is higher up on those I think.
Might feel the similar to having backweights in them. Just a guess.

CallMeAl question about 7 woods. I carry a 23 degree hybrid. What is the difference? Higher flight and do they carry farther than the hybrids? Those callaways look nice. I have a 3 wood but tend to go to my hybrid if I don’t have a juicy lie. I’m
wondering if slight downhill lies I could generate a little more height and carry off of less than perfect lies with a 7 wood? Those pics got me thinking maybe a spot in the bag could be warranted

The 7w will usually be 20 or 21 degrees with a longer shaft than your hybrid. COG is way different due to head design/shape. 7w should launch and carry longer than your 23 degree hybrid. YMMV.

bigshank I asked that same question some time ago on ralphmaltby.com. Their answer was what
I thought it would be....that because of the longer shaft you can expect more distance because the clubhead will
describe a longer arc and develop more clubhead speed.....a little more height as well. I guess you could say the difference would be the same that you could expect between a long iron and a hybrid of the same loft. That's certainly been my experience.

As others have stated, you may get more distance with a 7 wood over a hybrid. But a hybrid may be a little easier to control because of its length. JMO.

To add:
7 wood heads are also generally lighter to accommodate longer lengths, helping with distance.
most have .335 hosel, allowing for a larger variety of shafts, most of them higher launching than their .370 hosel iron counterparts, in general.
