Summer Shootout today. Modified Alternate Shot to start. We rarely had 2 good tee shots but finished tied for 4th to get into the Shootout. Then it's true alternate shot. We somehow survived until making bogey on the 7th hole to lose. Finished 4th which does pay so it was a good day.

My son came over from Cleveland and we played 18 at Chippewa Golf Club. I hit the ball like crap, but chipped and putted my way to an 80. He played very well (esp. for a guy who plays about 2-3 times a year!) and TIED his old man for the first time in his life!!

Today’s trash bet at the “league” was fewest number of putts. All the pins were tough, probably because of the bet. I took 18 putts. My plan today was kind of Golf Sidekick conservative. I figure that with some planning, I can get around that course in 22-23 strokes tee to green. That’s looking at it hole by hole. Obviously I’m gonna do better and worse on particular holes but it’s doable. I was doing great until the 410 yard par 4 7th, which is the hardest hole by far. My drive bounced sideways down into the trees and then the gambler showed up on my shoulder. I took 6 strokes total to get on the damn green. Including an unplayable penalty. I shot 43 with 25 strokes tee to green. Hit 6 greens, so that’s encouraging.

Hadn’t planned on playing. Was thinking range after the mess the last couple times out. Friend of mine had an 8:10 tee time so instead of battling traffic for the day job I played with him. Ended up doing 18 just because I needed to keep hitting irons and narrow down my swing fix.

Hit it much better, more less know what my problem was. Hit 16/18 greens. 4 birdies 14 pars. Fixed my chipping as well since we were the only 2 out there for some reason. Still want a range day just to instill what I was doing.

41, 40 today. First time out with the TS1 irons. Getting to learn the distances. These forged goo-filled things feel so good (buttery soft) and go farther than my forged Adams Pro A12, but it's not a full club, so.......
9 bogies, 9 pars.

Nope. Those adams clubs were a mish mash set that I've been looking to replace anyway. I had no 7 iron, and the 6 iron was a fitting head that was too upright. This set I just built is spot on to my specs. I just gotta learn the distances. I was 2 strokes off of breaking 80 and those could have been made up anywhere. I hit my 11 wood (not a new club), over the green on one par 4 and my 5 wood over another . Hitting it hard, hitting it solid, but I'm hitting it farther now and I have to relearn my clubs. I hit my driver today on one par 4 to 120 yards out when I'm usually sitting at 150. I had no idea what iron to hit. Chose the new 9 iron and hit it pin high. Now I know.

I’m getting frustrated.
45 with 5 greens and 19 putts. The gambler got me again today. “I’ll draw this hybrid around that tree.” Sure…. What a dumbass.

5 greens should give a 37 or 38. The big slopey greens are eating me up on chipping and putting. I hit decent chips but not good enough. Same for putts.

I hit a par 3 in regulation, only took 2 putts, and got a bogey. No penalties. 🤪

I shot 41-41-82 today at Riverby Hills in Bowling Green, OH. Hit a few really BAD shots....a couple of FAT shots
into water hazards, leading to double bogeys....and very few good ones. Thinking about going back to my
Adams Idea Tech V4 irons with the wide soles. I had the 6 and 7 from that set in my bag today, and hit my
best iron shots with them. When you get right down to it, what I REALLY need is a good practice session at the
range.....been neglecting that lately, and it shows! 7 GIR / 2 doubles / 33 putts 😞

Got out for nine this morning. Hit a lot of good shots, but the squirrely ones cost me and I didn't score well.

Odd holes were good, even holes not so much. Went par/bogey/par/bogey/par/bogey etc all the way around. The ninth hole is a short par five and I hit the best drive of the day. Had a chance to get there in two but pulled the approach shot a touch. Greenside left. Stubbed the chip, two-putt par. 🙄

It was fun, though.

Gonna be 100 here today so I got out kinda early. Went alone nobody else would test the heat. First 4 holes don't see another person and I'm one under. Even par at 6 holes and then I catch the field. Holy hell, people walk like they're auditioning for The Walking Dead.
I would wait for the guys in front of me to finish the hole before I teed off. I actually forgot where I was on one tee box. I was on my phone surfing , evidently for quite awhile and looked up and it took a minute to realize I was on the golf course, lol.
Ended up shooting 82 with one birdie. Putting did me in 37 putts with a chip in. Ended up a 4 and a half hour round when I played the first 4 in like a half hour.

No league tonight. Shot 47 with a birdie. Tried some different things, most didnt work obviously. I did hit some great shots i didn't think I was capable of though and got some good practice in.
