Too hot for real golf, but I went to a newer indoor simulator at a place called back nine. I think it's a national chain. I went by there this morning to check it out and it looked good. I noticed that they had Buffalo Ridge, Payne's Valley, Top of the Rock, and Mountain Top, all from Big Cedar Lodge. I haven't seen any of these courses at other simulator venues. Sadly, they did not have Ozarks National or the newest course, Cliffhangers.
Anyway, I played Buffalo Ridge from the gold tees. The front nine I was fighting my swing a little. Had an OB ball. Shot 42.
On the back, my ballstriking improved considerably. I felt comfortable and in sync. I was even par on the 18th tee. Pulled it into the crap, hit it back onto the fairway. Took two more to get to the green and two putts, for a bogey 6. That netted me a 37 on the back, and an 18-hole score of 79. I had one sweet chip-in.
Overall, a lot of fun. I would say that these simulators are a lot of more realistic than the ones at X-golf, and not as generous on the yardage. I think my longest drive of the day was about 224. Still, I hit a lot of solid, straight iron shots, especially on the back 9, and was pretty happy.
