Shot 44/42 yesterday, the first time I've broken 90 in 3-4 weeks. Needs an asterisk because I played the red tees with guys a lot older than me. I drove the ball pretty well, leaving me with a lot of short approaches from 70-80 yards, but I ruined some of them with poor wedge shots. Four penalty strokes from wild shots into water or the woods also prevented me from going lower on the shorter course. Putting was a bright spot. I sunk two 20-25 footers, one for birdie and one for double bogey, lol.

Another hot day, 97*. Went to play a course I haven't played in awhile. Played the whites at 6200 yards which is a bit longer than I prefer. 38-40-78 with a 7 on 18 having to take a two stroke penalty for an OB tee shot. Best score ever at that course. Only hit 4 FWs but 9 GIR. Played in 2:16. I'm actually liking the heat, keeps everyone at home.

Oh and anybody wear the long sleeve sun shirts on really hot days? I've become a believer over the last few days. Need to get a couple more. You can get fishing/surfer ones for $10-15 but put a collar on it for golf and they want $50!

I've worn the collar-less fishing shirts (SPF50+) under a golf shirt. 👍

I shot 40-39-79 today at Sandy Creek Golf Club, a hidden gem in Monroe, Michigan. Hotter than blazes, so we all rode today, and glad we did......It was a 3-bottles-of-water round !!! Nothing spectacular, 7 GIR, 0 birdies, 1 penalty, 1 double, 30 putts. I chipped and putted pretty well, and that was the difference!

Played league last night and took our points, but didn't finish the last 2 holes. Was 5 over through 7 holes and closed my opponent out after 6. He's a lot better than I am, but just wasn't playing well. I was hitting the ball solid, but not scoring well. My partner had his opponent dormie with 2 to play, but we were waiting on every tee in 100* heat and they conceded the last 1/2 point and we headed for the AC.

It was amazing how far the ball was going last night. I was clubbing down and still going long. I didn't hit very good drives on 11, 12 and 13 so when I got to 14 (OB left & right) I just tried to swing really smoothly and keep it straight. 260 yards up the middle lol. Lasered the back pin at 160 and used an 8i to be safe. Hit it about 170. If I had this distance regularly it would be a different game for me.

KCee Perhaps the only advantage of the heat when it comes to golf.

Also, contrary to popular belief, the ball also flies farther when the air is more humid. A lot of people Seem to believe the opposite.

I used to believe that. But that was for baseball. Made sense. Had it explained to me many years ago.

rsvman2 I wonder if it's because the golf ball will also go farther at high altitude where it's also usually more dry air. In that case it's the altitude having less dense air.

38 & 40 today at Shipyard. These Carolina courses are slump busters. Slow soft greens👍

I decided that since I’m having trouble with irons, maybe I should just play with a couple irons as a way to figure it out. So today I played the front 9 with my friend Tony. I took a 7 iron, 9 iron and a 56 degree. Shot -1. putted with the wedge. Guy I was with was amazed… “ you putt with a wedge better than I do with a putter.” Actually figured out my iron woes for real on #5. I hate it when what I think is the problem is actually the fix.

Shot 103 today in the senior league. It was a tough course and I hacked it up. No birdies, no pars. No golf swing. Being so poor tee to green made it difficult to summon the mental energy to read the difficult greens. It was hot and humid and almost a 6 hour round. With 5 holes to play I just wanted it to end.

I shot 37-36-73 at Detwiler Park Golf Course in Toledo today, by far my best round of the season. Detwiler is a city owned Arthur Hills course run by a management company that has the place in the BEST condition in years. I don't know where that score came from, but I hit 16 GIR, made 1 birdie, and only some poor approach putting on the fast greens kept me from being a couple strokes lower. We played the Senior tees, which were 5300 yards.

Nightmare day today. I subbed in a league. When I get got the course to pay the counter guy says "We're taking $5 off greens fees today as the course is a little wet". A LITTLE wet!! 3 Par 5's are playing as par 3's. Guys over 70 in this league get to play the senior tees. One of the senior tees on a par 3 were 40 yards out! You could putt onto the green. I played from 165 and hit it to 18 feet, didn't even write my name down when 16 guys will be playing from 40 yards.
Many of the fairways were pure mud, one guy almost slipped and fell into the mud. And the smell! All the rotting grass made it smell like sewage. At best they should have been charging $20. I shot in the low 70's but that means nothing with all the tees moved up.

garyt1957 They should have just closed the course. We’ve done it before…. It’s too wet, people will make a mess of it and the cost to repair the cart damage and the divots will far outweigh what they take on that day for greens fee. But people… people will play in the crappiest conditions instead of saving their money and paying another day. We get people that go out in driving rain but won’t go out if it’s hot out🤷‍♂️… what’s up with that?
