Back home and back to the slump buster. Shot 79 with a personal record for me low putts of 24. Had one chip in and 9 one putts. I think that's the main reason I play well here, I rarely have a bad putting round. 79 here with 24 putts as opposed to 88 at Wolf Creek with 39 putts. I actually played much better at the much harder course, just can't putt when I get on big fast greens with lots of undulation.

Played our Member Member Match play this weekend. Flighted with 3 9-hole matches Sat and 2 more Sun. We were 3-1-1 and finished 2nd in our flight and ~ 5th overall (points total). Played good, but not great. We zigged and zagged pretty well except for the loss in the 2nd match.

The last match was awesome. Back and forth thru 7 holes, we won the 8th (hole #2) to go 1 up and then we tied the final hole. Best part was winning the 50/50 raffle after though....8 years and I finally won one! Gambling definitely pays better than winning 🤣

83 with 3 double bogeys and SEVEN sand bunkers. Worst ball-striking 83 ever shot. If it wasn't for tee shots and short game, I'd have to give it up.

I shot 41-41-82 today at Heather Downs Country Club in Toledo, Ohio. This place used to be a private club, then
went semi-private several years ago, and fell into hard times, poor conditioning, etc. Now some new owners are trying to bring it back to its former glory, so we decided to give it a try.

Absolutely LOUSY day to play....25-30 mph winds off Lake Erie, spitting rain off / on for the back nine, but the place is in much better condition, so at least THAT was enjoyable. Nothing to write home about, but I scrambled pretty well to save several pars on the back. 5 GIR, 0 birdies, 2 doubles, 32 putts. (PS....the hole shown below is the 5th hole, the site of my first Hole-in-One, several years ago....)

Horrible 48 in league last night. Thought I worked most of my driver issues out in the match play tournament, but I was in the woods and/or OB on holes 10-14. Hit 3 wood after that and did well

I'm killing the new Qi35 Max 3 wood and it's been a surprise since it's a LOT lighter than any fairway I've ever gamed. Maybe I need to try to make my driver more like it?

The overall weight of the 3 wood is lighter than I have ever used. It's "standard" length, but it has a 63g shaft according to TM website. I struggled when I moved to 75g in a fairway wood, which is what my 5 wood has. My 5 wood has lead tape on the head and 25g backweight. I did try a 20 g backweight in the 3 wood and I do seem to be hitting it a bit straighter with that, but the club is still much lighter than my last 3w.

Oddly when I went for the fitting I hit my old 3w and the new one pretty much identical. I only bought it because the old one had a dent in the toe and I don't always hit the center of the clubface.....and I had pro shop credit lol.

Still trying to figure things out. I hit balls inside yesterday and noticed my iron ball position was too far forward. Moved it back and hit it better…. INDOORS.

Today the first 2 holes I block my approach. Too far back. Driver though was good. Worked on that too but the indoor work carried over nicely to outside. Shot -1 for 9. And I had a rare bogey from that ball position change. Used the Scotty Studio Style putter that I ground the dings out of and reshafted with graphite.

Went to the range after to work on ball position and found my alignment was also too closed so I opened up a little, moved the ball position up a bit and hit it good.

Played yesterday at Topstone GC which I hadn't been to in many years. Pretty good day shooting 44 + 40. Unfortunately butchered 2 holes on the front, but everything else was solid. I was honestly ready to go look for a new driver, but I barely missed a fairway and had a bit more pop in my swing. Might look for a putter though 😆

49, 39 today. Good grief. 🙄

The upside: 14/14 fairways. Two birdies, the first of which was a 3" putt. Closest I've been to an Eagle in a long time. Only one 3-putt green, the rest were 1 or 2 putts

That front 9 score included some of the worst shots I've ever hit.

82 at Tarpon Springs. No birdies. Had a nice draw going all day with the driver. Hit several good shots with the other clubs. Compressed my wedges real well. Putted like crap though. Never made a putt.

The feel I had before my months long hiatus is still alluding me. But we'll keep searching for it. It's in there somewhere. lol

I hit 2 iron shots today that felt like magic. Solid effortless high flying iron shots. One was a 9 iron that led to the tap-in birdie and the other a 140 yard 6 iron that ended up 5 feet from the hole. Both with PING ZING2 irons. I have no idea how or why I did that but "it's in there somewhere." 😉

The difference being for several months I had a repeatable feel that led to the best ball striking evah. Because I shortened and flattened my swing.

There’s hints of it, but before there was no thinking. Anyway, I too hit some great shots today. Hit some really solid irons using the Marcus Emblad right palm down. Great compression.

The hybrids are still a little off though. Those were spot on before. Driving on the other hand was spectacular. Brother in law gave me a dozen Pro V1’s. Put one in play on the back 9 today. Would never buy them myself, but for free I’ll play them.
