80 at Tarpon Springs. No birdies. Typical round with driver, fairway woods and wedges shining, but the hybrids and irons acting squirrelly. Always been a decent fairway wood player and I roasted a few today.

Went around my little course 2x today. The 1st time I went around and ended with 3 over. The 2nd time I was doing well until the mini golf green thT is #7 kicked my ass. On in one, 6 putt for a 7... which put me at 7 over through 7. Hit a 2nd ball on 9 and played that one and ended up with another 3 over, had great company on the 2nd 9. It's all for fun...

sdandrea1 hole #7 is a sloped green that today was running fast. Balls were not stopping very well, even above the hole.
Top to bottom it is close to 20Β° of slope. The entire green is about 25-35'. It can get downright nasty from time to time, especially when that green gets quick. The guy in charge of watering has been trying to keep that green really wet to keep the speed down, les people will bitch then. I have fun when its a little on the quick side and I can get used to it. More fun, you need to hit your line and speed.

Got out for 18 to ay at my local muni. Weather was nice... high 70s, 1-club wind, gusting to 2-club at times.

Parred 1, but the then got on the bogey train pretty quickly, with bogeys at 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, but then parred 7-10. Bogey train from 11-13, but the then I went one under from 14-18.

So, once again, the back nine was quite a bit stronger; 41, 37.

    Putted better today.

The bogey on 6 was a birdie on a second ball after the first one found a lake in front of the green. I could have dropped down where the ball crossed the hazard but elected to play again from the tee box. Thought the second ball was going to hole out for a strange par, but it stopped about three feet short (directly on line).

The new driver I got from Uncle Steve was interesting. After the first three shots I hit with it I was ready to throw it into a lake. They all went right pretty hard. It has an A-flex shaft and I have never tried one before. I then remembered about a training club which is a 7-iron with a really whippy shaft... everybody hits it right until they sequence perfectly, and then it goes straight.

So, thereafter, I pretended like the driver head was on a rope, and thought about nothing but sequencing perfectly. When I did that, I hit some loong (for me) drives. This is a course I play all the time and on three holes I definitely got to places I had never been before. But if I tried to extract distance from it, it started going right again.

So now I don't know whether I should keep it and keep using it, because it hits the ball a mile and maybe helps me sequence my swing better, or whether I should banish it because if I don't sequence perfectly it goes way right, so it can't be trusted. Hmmmm......

Oh, and by the way, in the clubhouse they have a barrel of old clubs that they sell for $25 a piece and donate the money to First Tee. I glanced over at the barrel and what did I find? A 9-degree SMT Nemesis on a Graffaloy ProLaunch Blue regular flex. Well, for $25 I had to buy it, right? I haven't had a chance to hit it yet, because i bought it after the round. I figured three drivers in the bag during the round was at least one too many. Lol.

      So proud of you Randall.

fatshot Yeah.....I'm 78, so I beat my age by a lot this time!

Didn't realize you were 78. Shooting your age is commonplace for you.

Typhoon yes.....often mind is on other things and just playing naturally....also tend to play my best in really tough conditions, like today when it was windy as hell out. Forced to swing easy and play conservative, lower shots with taking more club....not expecting to do much and boom.

ode I have also found that sometimes i play better when it is quite windy.

Indoor round tonite on Spanish Bay. It’s funny to say when playing on a Sim but the greens were brutal. Came in at -6

Typhoon you ever get out this way, I'd love to hear how easy you find my little course, especially the green on #7. 😊

Cool, breezy, and soft today. 78 with 30 putts. No 3 putts. 7 GIRs, no birdies, one double. Our team got skunked. In fact none of the four of us made a birdie.
