Played Poston Butte today in Florence AZ. Nice Troon course in excellent condition. 43-40 from 6400 yards. Had 10 fairways and only one bad miss on the 4 I didn't hit. 6 GIRS, which is good for me and 28 putts. I was +1 after 7 holes and +7 after 9 holes.šŸ¤¬ I have been shooting decent lately and in the last month have taken my handicap from a 13.3 to a 10.9. Playing again tomorrow on my slump busting easy track.

Typhoon Funny.....I see these old(er)guys out there playing from the reg. tees and always wonder WTH are you doing? Then they will step up and hit the ball around 230-250. Straight out there.
Then I watch them hack & chop their way to the green, every green, for their bogies/double bogies. And just forget about ever hitting a Par 3 in reg.. (they should use a choked down driver) their iron games are shit. Oh and that.....they gotta hit irons all the way also, no woods for them.

    Yesterday Iā€™m watching one group that has a member in it, kid in his late 20ā€™s. I look out and see people on the par 5 ahead of them probably 100 yards from the green. Iā€™m about to say something because I have groups right behind them, and the kid gets up and kills one. Good swing, musta hit it it 300. The next 2 get upā€¦ one hits a hybrid with this slow shorty swing, next guys skulls an iron 100 yards.

    I said to them, ā€œ ok you gotta be smart about this..Owen, you kill it, let the guys who canā€™t hit it 150 tee off first and then by the time you get to hit throws guys will be far out of your way. Donā€™t wait 10 minutes so you can hit first ā€œ. He says,ā€ oh yeahā€¦ never thought of thatā€¦ā€

      Typhoon When playing with Jake, I often do this. I'll walk up to the forward tees and hit. And still have to wait so he can. Some holes we have to wait til the group is actually on the green! And still pray he doesn't hit someone.šŸ˜„

          Par4QC When used to play with a group of guys M/W/F at my old 9 holer, we had a ā€œfixed batting order ā€œ based off of how far you hit it. Longest guy hit lastā€¦ even if he got a hole in one on the previous hole!

            rsvman2 I got some of the unluckiest bounces ever too. Went OB 4 times and I was nowhere near close enough to go out. Didn't think i needed to hit provisionals and took 2 stroke penalties. Should have been in rough but I wonder if my new found distance hurt me.

              38-40 at Las Colinas from 6000 yards today. 7 GIRS on the front nine, 3 on the back. Front nine was 7 pars 2 bogeys. Back nine was a roller coaster. Bogey, birdie, birdie, bogey start. Triple on 18šŸ¤¬šŸ¤¬šŸ¤¬šŸ¤¬šŸ¤¬. Good round that could have been excellent. Iron play was good,driver got loose on the back nine. 32 putts due to all the GIRS. Feels good to be playing solid again. I just need to eliminate the blow up holes.

                300yd. Par 4 and they all 3 pulled out irons. And hit in 3 different directions.....none towards green of course.
                None of them could hit 300 with driver, btw.

                    Par4QC and you wonder why you had no rhythmā€¦ sounds like some of the rounds I have where the aggravation of what is going on ahead of you holding you up throws you off.

                        Par4QC 3some today on the tee. I notice on our opening par 5 the people in front of them are 50 yards from the green. Guy with an awful swing standing on the tee. His friend in the cart says to him, ā€œI dunno, they might be far enough away.ā€

                        I said to them both, ā€œare you kidding me? Itā€™s a par 5, they are almost on the green ā€¦ they are 400 yards away. Can you guys see ok? You wonā€™t get to where they are in 3 shots.ā€

                        He then hitsā€¦ God awful swing, ball gets low heeled dead left off a stand of trees 30 yards ā€œahead.ā€

                        Once again I walk back into the pro shop shaking my head.

                          Typhoon When it's hot AH, the waiting drains a person. It got to the point I started hitting from just any tee box. Played them all except the blues....( I can't hit irons all that well šŸ¤£) & reds.
                          It got to be a round of experimenting with clubs/distances.

                            I had a great round but a weird one. Shot 75 with no birdies. 15 pars and 3 bogies, it was fairways, greens, two putts, over and over. I hit 13 greens and took 34 putts. Recent swing changes are working.

                            I had a lot of decent looks for birdie, 15-20 feet or so, but just couldn't make any. I could have easily shot a personal best if I had made some putts. I had my first 3 putt in 74 holes. That has to be a record for me.

                            I think our team got our money back, pretty much. The B and C players really struggled, and the D player and I did well. The D player M-F'ed himself after every stroke. It's ridiculous. The guy is about a 20 index and he expects to hit great shots every time.

                            Got out for a round after a 2 week hiatus.

                            41-43 at the home course yesterday from 6590 yards. Had 6 birdie opportunities and didnā€™t make a single one of them šŸ˜”

                            10 pars, 4 ea. bogey & 4 doubles.

                            3 of the 4 doubles were due to being left off the tee box and in tree troubleā€¦I continue to be an idiot by trying for too much on the punch outs šŸ˜”ā€¦the fourth double was a superb downhill lie skull out of a par 3 green side bunker that flew over the green and past the OB stakes šŸ¤®

                            The reshafted Pinhawk PDI shined on a few holes yesterdayā€¦much better results built to 40ā€ with untipped @LogicalOne 85Sā€¦195ā€™ish carry on the solid strikes with good rollout afterwardsā€¦straightest stick in my bag right now when I need it.
