44 in league last night and the losing streak continues. I am killing the ball, but getting myself in trouble driving it through doglegs and flying greens. I am cranking the Rogue ST Max; no idea why I ordered the Ai Smoke.
How did you shoot today at Golf
Nice!!
Normally, while I don't hit far I can usually find the fairway. My putting is decent, I don't ake many long ones, but I don't 3 putt much. Today, On the front nine, my driving was terrible, I did manage to straighten it out on the back. I had 5 3 putts to go along with 5 1 putts for 36 putts. It's too bad my driving and putting were so bad as my irons were better than they have been in a long time. Ended up shooting 48/44 which is in my normal range.
Upper 70's/low 80's but humid. The course was in decent shape considering the deluge we had yesterday. CPO but we got around in about 3:45.
First time playing in 15 days....39/43
Did a little Tin Cup action trying to get to the par 5, 10th in 2.
Had 230 to the pin and put 3 in the water for a 10
KCee Why are you flying greens? I’ve never had the issue where I’m hitting it good and then all of the sudden I’m 15 yards longer with a given iron. I don’t get it …
I have another pro who has Mavrik irons and he flies greens when he doesn’t expect it but I told him it’s the hot spots on hollow irons that does that.
Like crap…
…and I lost $4 on the back 9…playing partner proclaimed a buck per hole when we made the turn…
Typhoon I have Maverik Max irons
Played 13 holes this morning (wasn't feeling well, so playing the last 5 would have been a bad idea), and had one of those days where almost everything seemed to work. I'm a fair number of years short of being able to beat my age for 18 holes, but it's a pretty good target for 13 - par is 49 (10 4s, 3 3s), so I need to be at least 3 under, and that's what I ended up with today.
It helps to get a fast start, and they don't come much faster than my first hole today. I had around 195 yards for my second shot out of the light rough after a mediocre drive - the lie was decent, so was able to get a 3-wood on it, and hit a good solid shot a little right of the flag, landing short of the green and rolling up. I thought that it might have gone through (a little bit of a flyer lie), but the ball ended up wedged between the flagstick and the edge of the hole for an eagle 2.
I got pretty close to holing another long shot on the par-3 sixth - hit a nice solid 6-iron down the hill that pitched in the middle of the green and rolled out towards the back hole location, finishing less than a foot away for a tap-in birdie. (I had two other birdies, at 7 and 11, to offset the two bogeys.)
Typhoon I do have hollow irons TM P770, but I think it's just me starting to swing better more often. I'm even clubbing down in spots and still going long. I've gone from hitting driver 210-240 to 240-260 and even beyond that each round. I'm reaching new places on our course.
Irons are longer too and I do go through that most years. I start the season needing 7i for 150 and by summer I'm hitting 8i. I've hit a fair # of 9i shots that far recently. I do tend to de-loft and cover most iron shots which is why I prefer at least a 30* 6i and not the newer stronger lofts. I just got my old Apex Pro irons back so maybe I'll play them this weekend and see if I get those long shots.

Played The Medalist, a fantastic course in Mi. Pristine conditions, huge greens. Shot 42 on the front with 21 putts, including a 4 putt! That's literally as good as I can play tee to green but couldn't make a putt. I get exposed when I play top notch courses with large fast greens. I'm terrible at reading subtle breaks so a 30' putt that I play straight that has even a small break will leave me with a 7 footer. That's a recipe for a 3 putt. I play the slower greens around home and think I can putt because I'll have 28-32 putts. Pffft.
Anyway, hit 6 GIR and all 7 Fws on the front, one birdie. Should've been a 38-39 easily.
Shot 44 on the back with 19 putts, 3 GIR, 5 FW for an 86 with 40 putts, Oh My!. Also two birdies, should have been three. Hit my longest drive on Par 5 18th and then hit a bullet on the green from over 200 out to be on in two for the first time in a long time. You guessed it, 3 putt par.
Got my new putter delivered yesterday but not in time to take with me so heading out now to hit a few putts. Not too promising based on a few putts on the carpet.

76 at Tarpon Springs. Had two birdies. Only hit one bad shot on the front which resulted in 1 over par on the front. Went around in 2:55. Would've been faster had we not run into a walking single on the back that slowed us down just a bit.
Pretty nice morning for golf.

@MartinD you got some of the breaks I needed today. Maybe the golf gods have a quota and you used it up.
I hit 4 fairway bunkers, including one on a mid iron layup. What a maroon. I had a deeply plugged lie in a greenside bunker that led to a triple. I also had a double. And my short game was trash. Too many short sided shots that I didn’t even get on the greens. Give yourself a putt!!!
The rest of the holes were just fine, and I shot 81 with 9 greens and 34 putts. The aeration is still hurting our putting. I hope they put more sand on the greens.
I won a skin which will win peanuts, under ten bucks.
Another bad 9 holes - 48. Lost two balls off the first tee and one off the second. On the 3rd hole, a homeowner gave me a pro v1 he found on his lawn and I played the next 6 holes without losing it. Parred 7, 8, and 9. I think this immature guy on a porch roof near the 8th green brought me good luck!
Sneakylong Would've been faster had we not run into a walking single
Was there anyone in front of him? When I play by myself I’ll practice too but I always look back to see if someone is coming and I’ll speed up to get more space.

Not directly in front of him. They do let members who walk go off the back early. Usually they're in groups of 3 or 4. We've ran into this guy before. One time he was playing multiple balls. He wasn't as bad this time.
This course is the type that you can see all over the course property. Most people are cognizant of groups behind them. Some just don't care and are in their own little world.
Got out for 9 today. Windy and humid.
Parred 5 holes, two bogeys, but two bad holes, one double and one triple. Missed every putt. Had three of four good looks at birdie and missed them all.
Did hit the longest drive I have ever hit on the first and again on the third hole. Hit some really solid irons, but bladed one and chunked a couple.

Another weird round. The first nine was hook city. I just couldn't break the hooks, with all clubs. I hit 1 green, the 9th, and birdied it. 42 (par 35 again for a while due to repairs from the earlier floods).
Second nine was much better, 38.
Only 5 greens total, and 30 putts. The short game was much better today, partly because I missed in better place and partly because I used less loft whenever I could.
I hit 3 fairway bunkers, all from drives that curved 30 yard left. I sandied one of them and missed a short straight putt that would have been another one. I chunked an approach into a bunker that is well short of the green and was left with a 40 yard bunker shot. Honestly in 3 years I have never been in that bunker. I used a 49 degree gap wedge with a normal greenside shot and put it pin high. That was fun. I just missed the 20 foot putt though.
The 4th hole has become my nemesis hole. It's an elevated par 3 that requires a 160 yard carry most days. 4 ,5, 6, and 7 are my Amen Corner. 6 is also a par 3, and currently 7 is too. Very little in the way of safe miss areas. If I could get through those four holes in +1 or +2, I will have a great round. Yesterday I went +5, today +4. I'm only shooting +9 or 10 for 18, and half of that is on those four holes.
I need to think better.
