Played a two-man indoor scramble today with three teams . We played Arnies Bay Hill course in honor of this weekends tournanent. My partner and I were 3 over on the front side.
We were still doing fine on the back when we took a 9 on a par 5. Hey, skitty things happen. We won by 1 stroke.
Having fun on a Wednesday afternoon on state-line road at the Indiana/Ohio
NE border.

81 at Tarpon Springs. Had two birdies. Same as Monday, just not back to back. Excellent ball striking today, best in awhile. The greens at Tarpon Springs are Bermuda and are slower than the SeaDwarf Paspalum greens at Timber Greens,
Also, Paspalum is much less grainy. So you really don't have to read the grain, like Bermuda. Anyway, never really got adjusted to the slower speed and left too many putts short. Happens there a lot.
We went out first at 7:00 and were done at 10:03. After the round we were in the car and one of the guys in the group behind us came up and tapped on the window.
He said he was very happy with how fast we played. Said he played in a 5 hour round recently. Another gorgeous morning on the course. 65 degrees when we went out.

We've had similar comments made by groups who follow us. We walk, and usually it's riders who come up and say
"We groaned when we saw 4 walkers ahead of us, but we had a hard time keeping up!!"
44 - 38. I've got to wake up before the front nine!
No lunch ? How’s the diet going ?
Eguller No lunch ? How’s the diet going ?
Diet is not going so well. lol. But we skip eating lunch out to save a few bucks this time of year. The summer Paradise Card starts April 1st. So the rates will start to go down.
Sneakylong Maybe you should change your user name to Sneakyfast.

sdandrea1 forgot what that feels like. I'm at 214, down from 223
I got as high as 223 myself two years ago. Then got down to 193. Now I’m up to 213.
I’m 6 feet and carry it well because I look taller than I am (longer torso). I was 165 with a 32 inch waist in high school. Most of my adult life I was ~ 175 with a 34” waist.
Then I retired early and blew right thru a 36 inch waist and settled at 38 inch. I think ~ 200 is where I can maintain.
When I got down to 193 I justified not staying there because I didn’t want to buy a new wardrobe. Lol
Putter kills another good ball striking round. 11/14 fairways, 12 greens, 33 putts. 14 pars and 4 bogeys.
This was a new putter today. I misread two putts, but everything else was close. Longest 2nd putt was 4 feet. Made every putt 6 foot or under, missed every putt over 6 feet. Admittedly, my home course is notorious for tough greens for putting and chipping. I did a spreadsheet stats check...my average putts on my home course, 32.2. My average on all other courses combined, 30.4.
Still you'd think one would go in once in a while, especially when I have played this course 300+ times.
Some days ya just putt like shit… lip outs, run everything over the edge, leave putts on the lip. Doesn’t mean you need an overhaul or a different putter.
Typhoon Agreed, we need new putters because they keep making new ones.
Bravopilot I don’t see anything great about the new putters. There is nothing groundbreaking. No putter is claiming “ 3 more inches!!” What is Scotty Cameron doing to Newport’s every year to make them more whatever… nothing. I’ve found a sweet spot of putter years that I like. The NP from you is that year, my Ping Redwood Anser.

HaHa, I got down to 155 (at 5'10") and 32"waist at 56 or so. Threw out all my bigger clothes because "I'll never need those again" Oops.

This is interesting. Can putters become more forgiving on mishits? Callaway thinks so. Whether it's marketing hype or real, I'm intrigued. Is this where everyone could gain strokes on the green? Can AI help on mishit putts?
“What’s the key similarity between the world’s best and us weekend hackers? We all mishit putts. And when miss the centre of the putter face, the ball doesn’t travel as far, so it’ll either stay out on either side of the hole, or left short.
Think about all the times you’ve three-putted. Those were mostly due to a lack of control from a mishit putt.
The Callaway boffins crunched the numbers and worked out that their players lost a combined $25 million in prize money in 2023 due to three-putts. At our level, meanwhile, the average 15-handicap player will three-putt more than three greens per round. There might not be as much on the line, but that will still cause a lot of damage on any scorecard.”
“Rahm isn’t a player that likes to make changes, but these numbers were enough to convince him to put the Odyssey Ai-One putter in the bag. Is it enough to convince you?”
I am gaming a putter from a good 15 years ago that attacked the problem a different way. The insert is softest in the middle and gets gradually firmer out toward the toe and the heel. Thus a ball struck at any reasonable point on the face goes about the same distance.
Direction is affected because ir is not a high MOI putter, but when the distance is not affected much, three-putts become a lot less common.

I played in the muck today, with decent weather.
83 with 6 GIR and 31 putts. Irons still sucked but I'm going to work on them a lot this weekend.
Driving has been excellent since I moved the ball back, and started turning my hips on the backswing. I've picked up considerable yardage, which is fun. Who knew you are supposed to turn in a golf swing, and not just swing with your arms?
The big news is that I am in love. I test drove a LAB Golf Mezz 1 putter today. One of my buddies here has upgraded to their latest one and is selling this one. I made all sorts of putts with it. None for birdie, unfortunately. I am able to hit my line with it a lot better than I can with other putters. Yeah, yeah, honeymoon, blah blah; I'm buying it. Price to be determined, I am at his mercy. He was playing with me and every time I made a tough putt, someone would say "the price just went up".
I always liked the Mezz in the stores but never could pull the trigger at those prices. But the damn thing works.

DonM I've picked up considerable yardage, which is fun. Who knew you are supposed to turn in a golf swing, and not just swing with your arms?
I had a nasty hernia on the left side the past few years, and a small one on the right I knew nothing about. Never realized how costly it was, in terms of golfing, to just 'let it go'; not much turning to be had. Got it rid of them and now, like you say, tee shots are markedly improved, distance wise. And still straight! Been an improvement also in the fw clubs. Just got to get the iron swing back.
Golf is easy. And fun.
