Did not keep score....but handful of bogeys and a couple birdies. Can't say I've ever played in February before ๐Ÿค”.....once in january about 15 years ago. Nice to get out and enjoy a walk!

Typhoon Stop being so logical! The man has come up with a sound rationalization for building a new club! It's all that's needed here. ๐Ÿ˜€

DonM I benched my driver after the tee shot on the 9th hole. I used my XR16 4 wood instead

Some years ago, when the course was empty, I played two balls. With the first one, I hit driver as I always did. With the second one, I hit 3-wood off the tee instead. With the driver, my score was 84, my average score at the time. With the 3-wood I shot 79. Of course I didn't learn anything from that and kept hitting driver all the time.๐Ÿค”

Supp Many years ago my brother said 'let's play only 1 club from tee-into cup.....club is also putter, on the next hole'. Very long Par 5 and I chose my 19 hybrid. Parred the damn thing.
    Next hole.....gimme dat driver!!๐Ÿ˜„

I draw a line through the logo on the ball and line up 2 outta 3 putts on every green, I garbage pick, I buy and drive used vehicles with high miles and have car payments below my mortgage, I play clubs with dents, I haggle, I drank cheap beer, I buy discount clothes and shoes from Burlington and the thrift store, my Mom is my best friend, I'll wear a T-shirt on the golf course if allowed, I use iron covers and listen to music when I play/ed, I don't hesitate to tell my wife she's full of shit and wrong when warranted, I don't like mustard on anything, but cheese coneys, I wear flip flops and even own/wear sandals to play golf in at times, I'll call a spade a spade, my dog ain't got no pedigree, my cats are rescues, I work for less than I'm worth because I enjoy it (mostly), I wear ball caps and am picky about it, I won't wear jean shorts, but wear shorts year round EXCEPT for work due to weather, I won't wear "muscle shirts" or "wife beaters", I try to avoid snobby people, I love and listen to metal music, but am very diverse , I don't like wine or craft "beer", I don't like bourbon unless it's flavored, I don't like whiskey, I hate brussel sprouts, I have a biracial family, I cuss A BUNCH, I'm not a proud man, but I have my limitations and try to know them, I'm falling apart physically and if I knew I was gonna live this long I doubt I'd have done anything different, I try to type how I talk, I'm neither a repub or dem, and last but not least, I wouldn't be caught dead in crocs, but HEY! That's just me.๐Ÿ˜

There, "if that ain't country I'll kiss your ass".

J is right, I donโ€™t need much excuse to build something.

My only thought/hope here is that the heavier shaft will be a better fit and maybe even make me pick up a little speed. That seems to have happened with the 4 wood.

DonM I do this to an extent with all my drivers. For example, my current gamer is a Ping G that came at a playing length of 45.5 inches. I'm currently playing a 75 gram shaft in it at 44.75 inches. In the past I've built component drivers at 44 inches with pretty good results.

What I haven't tried is getting a driver head to the weight of a 3-wood head and playing it at 3-wood length. That would be an interesting experiment.

Iโ€™ve done that and I didnโ€™t get the results I was hoping for.
Iโ€™m starting to think I might be one of these guys who doesnโ€™t like a huge driver head. Whether itโ€™s because of hitting off a taller tee with forward ball position, or what.

The driver head probably seems even larger (and therefore awkward) at the short playing length. I expect I'd want more loft in such a driver, too.

LBlack14 OK, OK, good to know. However, you stated in full public view if we got you some JD Crocs you will wear them. Just checked and no arrival date yet but we (Typhoon and myself) expect pictures of them on YOUR feet, In your garage is acceptable but at work is preferred๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜Ž

Par4QC I go out a lot of times late in the day at the pro shop and play the first hole with only a 7 iron. Tight par 5. I either par or birdie it Everytime. Then I stand there all day and watch people make double digit numbers by pumping balls one after another into the wooda

91 today at Royal St Cloud. It was really windy but I hit it well enough to shoot under 85 and struggled on the greens. Won money again. Every one else is somehow rustier than me.

Last hole downwind I piped it almost 300 for a nice finish. My opponent hit it about 330 but bladed it over the green.

The problem is ball position. I flare my front foot about 30 degrees. I've been playing the ball off the middle of the foot for years. Trying to get some launch. But I didn't get many great hits. Usually they were okay, and some days like yesterday, not okay. Everyone says play it just inside the heel. Sure, sure, what do they know?

Well I guess "they" are right. I tested it today at the range. Everything was a laser down the middle.
Doh! Height is another story, though. They were only going 40 feet high with a 12 degree driver. Well, I can figure that out as I go. I've always been a low ball hitter with the driver. And that shot will play down here, at least for a while.

Just a "meh" round today. Didn't play bad, didn't play good. 47/46. Only 3 pars, but no triples, 1 3 putt, 3 penalty strokes. Left too many putts short.

A decent day. Close to 70 when we teed off, 83 when we finished. Partly cloudy. Windy (but not as windy as I was expecting).

We got around in 4 hours which isn't too bad for CPO.

KCee Royal St Cloud today....Providence the other day.....I'm home now, but I've played both of those when I've been in FLA. Where are you staying????
