Went around 3x today, all from the forward tees. First 2x was with the same 3 ladies. I didn't keep score, probably a good thing, I did birdie holes 3 and 4 the 1st round. Used my 8 iron on both holes, hole 3 I was just past the pin and just to the left. Hole 4, ball plugged into the green, 2 putt for birdie.
The 3rd time around, I was part of a 4 man team scramble. Hole 4 I hit my 7 iron we had a head wind by then, i hit it thin, like its ovwr the green thin. Ball ended up 8" from the hole. Made the putt for eagle too. My team went -4, over 9 holes, we came in 2nd. That last round, I had two hits I'm happy with, both were mis hits, the thinned 7 iron on 4, and I mis hit my 3 wood on 6. Almost skyed that shot. Ball mark on the face, was about a 1/3 of the ball on the toe. Ball ended up to the left of the green, just past pin high. 200 yards into a headwind. Good shots and bad shots, the good ones will be remembered for a while.

Sometimes those thin ones spin like a bastard. Back to back birdies though… nice!

DonM I'll have to check my personal weather station for the monthly total. I got more than 4" hete st home so far this month.

Edit: just checked, and this month alone I got 7.3" of rain. Total for the year is just over 9".

Walterjn It has arrived here now. Been raining pretty steadily since early yesterday morning. Pretty sure we've had a couple of inches and counting. Supposed to rain most of the day today and then clear out.

johnnydoom I wouldn't be surprised if you get a few inches of rain from that thing.

Played 1st round of year 2 days ago on Friday the 9th. Course opened for just the day. 62 degrees with 30 mph gusts, but it was just fun to play.
Shot 41-44/85 with one triple and 2 doubles.

Played like absolute shit today. 47-51 at San Marcos. Couldn't drive, chip or putt today. 5 three putts on the smallest greens in town. My new LogicalOne. 3 putter can't get here soon enough. I should have stayed home and played with myself. Had a great time anyway with my buddies and my friends son who is from Toronto. Lunch at a place called craft 64. 3 very tasty beers and an order of meatballs with focashia bread with a side of Mac-n-Cheese was phenomenal.

48-45/ 93. I played well. We started on 16(men's club tournament) I went par, par, bogey, par to start. I had 4 triple bogeys. 2 on the front, 2 on the back, one of those an 8... I got paired with 3 old dudes. All 3 were a blast to play 18 with. My driver was working well today, nothing too far off line, I didn't lose a ball all 18. I got a few GIR, if I didn't, I was either over par, or one putting to save par. I used my 9 iron bump and run to great effect.
My last hole, #15, I hit a 220 yard drive with a slight fade, left me a solid 100 yards to the center of the green, an easy 9 iron put me on the green, 2 putt par.
That hole has been my worst hole, more often than not. Most of the time, my power fade comes back with a vengeance. From the tee box, the practice green, and proshop are within range when my power fade kicks into overdrive. There is a big oak tree next to the proshop, I've hit that tree off a bounce from 15 tee box. It was bad....

        Today, i avoided doing that!

Walterjn The triple bogeys are killing you. You didn’t lose a ball so what’s up with the triples? You gotta look back and see where the trouble starts… it’s not a long course right? Or did you not play your home course.

Typhoon they really are. I played rivercourse.com with the men's club. Everyone played from the whites. Total of 6126 yards, according to the scorecard. Trouble started on hole 3. Par 4 380 yard dogleg left. I pulled my 5 wood, because it's about 200 to ob. I topped my 5 wood, 2nd shot wasn't much better. 7 iron got me to the bend, then I chunked my 7 iron, chucked my 9 iron, 9 iron bump and run onto the green, one putt. Hole 4, 185 yard par 3, 5 wood off the tee, ended up pin high way to the left, on the tee box of hole 3, ball 2" below my feet, Wedge over the cartpath, hill, bunker, and green. Stubbed my wedge 2 times, finally onto the green with my 5th shot, 1 putt for 6.
Hole 10, to the right of the fairway into the rough, 5 wood and got under it, 7 iron into a tree, 9 iron punch out to short of the green, 9 bump and run onto the green, then 3 putt.
Hole 14, driver to a bunker on the right, 7 iron to just barely out of the bunker, 7 iron to the fairway, 5 iron to the left of the green, next to the cartpath, 9 iron bump and run up the hill, over the depression, skittered over the green, putter from 2 feet in the rough, 2 putt.
Those were my worst 4 holes that were all triples.
I'm happy with the way I played on 95% of that round. I need to work on my ball striking, and consistency. My handicap is 23.7, and that round was 21 over. I'm looking at it as not bad for this being the beginning of my 3rd year playing.
Hole 10 is listed as 402 yards, and hole 14 is 484 yards.

75 (par 71) at Timber Greens. Had one birdied. Hit it pretty good today on less than 5 hours sleep due to the Super Bowl going into extra innings. Maybe I need to try less sleep more often.🤔

              Walterjn , over the depression

              After reading it all… I’m not quite😂

Walterjn Sadly you're describing most of my rounds.....and my low last year was a 79...with a triple 😥

I always blame consistency too, but missing in the right spot(s) and having a better short game is huge. And realizing bogeys are ok at our level of play.

KCee hole 11 I was on in 3, missed the 1st putt, made the 2nd. I was completely thinking it was a par 4 and was totally happy with my 5. One of the guys I was playing with had to tell me it was a par 5. I love my bogeys... pars are just a little better.

DonM it is, I tell ya!!!
That's the big oak I've hit off a bounce. The one right next to the building.

I moved back to the white tees today. I get 3 more strokes on the 18. I still managed a 77 with only a few GIRs. Driver, 4h, chip, putt pars. Had one birdie (on our shortest par 4), 8 bogeys and 9 pars.
