Played 9 last nite and didn't have the same swing I had over the weekend. I did par 16, 17 and 18 to finish strong. Again it was crazy windy and cool. If we ever get a 70 deg day with just a light breeze I will probably be so thrown off I will shoot 110.

Torrential rain overnight and into morning saw our courses closed early doors, and my usual Wednesday all scratched. Walked the dog, had some lunch, weather broke and the sun came out, so I grabbed the pencil bag and went for a quick 9. Of course the rain returned before I teed off but I was only out for 9 so figured I'd stick with it.

Not one of my better ideas, got pretty wet for a while but the sun returned and it got warm ...

Driving OK but short compared to recent weeks, iron play inconsistent. Took too long to figure out I was chopping at the ball. No point in widening the takeaway if you don't keep the width on the downswing ...

Good part of it I got plenty practice on short game after my pathetic approach play, including a few bunker shots with a 52 degree gap wedge (no SW in the pencil bag this time out). And there's always tomorrow 👍

I drove an hour and a half today to play with an old friend. The front nine was terrible. At least on the back I got the driver working and I putted fairly well. I couldn't hit an iron to save my life. One of the worse rounds in a long time.

I think I'd pass on playing that course again, it wasn't in great shape. The greens were decent, but had been recently punched. And it was a bit too long for me, several par 4 weren't reachable in two for me.

I should probably think about going to the range.

I am having a little trouble getting going this season. Yesterday, I was -1 after 3 and I just can't keep it together. My swing just doesn't last a whole 9 hole round...and I don't know why. Anyways, I was 6 over the last 6 for a 41. I'm not sure what is going on. I ended last year with a 2 hcp for the 9 hole league.

Been a couple of weeks for me. May be a couple more unless I catch a break somewhere. Between work and the kid's end of school year and graduation activities I can't find a spot to squeeze it in.

sdandrea1 I haven't played since the last time I posted in this thread. I had it in my mind that I would go play tomorrow, because the weather is finally looking up and I thought I had tomorrow off.
Come to be reminded that I had traded weekends with one of my colleagues, and that my on call starts tomorrow morning at eight.

Oh, also, my car is essentially on fumes and all the gas stations in my area are out of gas. I am going to have to take my wife's car go work tomorrow!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Play well and enjoy the heck out of it. I guess I was late to the party. Played today and had a double and a quad some bogies and a few pars and a birdie that was 6" from being an eagle. That saved the day from being horrible to just okay. 😃

You and I have similar schedules. Had two school events at the same time last night. End of year band awards and my son was inducted into the National Honor Society. He ended up getting a Letter and an Award for band but missed out because he was at the NHS event. 1.5 weeks to go and things will open up.

She's tough. Kicked the Oxycodone after yesterday and moved to Tylenol. Had her 1st checkup today and doc says it's as good as he had hoped. She's walking on it already. I'm hanging in....no golf and lots of chores. Thank God Sophie has the housetraining thing down! Thanks for asking!

Funny, yesterday playing league from the shorter gold tees, I start off with a 4 putt on our first hole....
and it didn't get any better after that for a stellar 98.

Today same course, different more competitive league and playing from the middle tees which are about
800+ yds longer I shoot an 81 with birds on the last 2 par 5's.......STUPID GAME!

Unplanned 3ball with golf_ghirl and her friend MS (who's also my mixed 4some partner in recent years). Golf_ghirl gets saddled with an extended phone meeting for work, "I'll join you at #8" she called as I left with my pencil bag. Called her on #6 and ... she's still on the call and won't be getting away. Just the 2ball then, and we came off after #16 as it was getting cold ...

By this time I'm par par par bogey par bogey ... a few more pars followed but no birdies (for me, anyway).

Meantime MS is playing off the gents' yellow tees (6001 yards instead of the ladies' reds at 5517 ) in preparation for our Captain's Day on Saturday, since the committee has decided it's a genderless Texas scramble and all players will go offf the white tees (6202). Interesting to look at the holes from her perspective as a (relatively) short hitter and pick lines for her, not just where to aim but where to leave approach shots for best look at pins where we knew her approach shot wouldn't reach. Also taught her how to play long running approach shots with a hybrid instead of a putter. Oh and she birdied #15 with a 3W to 10' and rolling in the downhill putt.

Made it out for nine holes after work this evening. I have been hitting a few practice balls in my backyard with a new grip and a new swing. No actual range time or real balls hit. Decided to try it out on the course, fully expecting a lot of growing pains and bad shots.
Instead, I opened with a birdie, hit 4 of the first 6 greens in regulation, hit the longest drive I have hit in more than 15 years (284 by satellite range finder) and shot 39 despite an unforced 3-putt and a water ball on seven.
Very happy and excited to see if I can keep this up.

Coldest 67* I've seen. Did I mention windy as heck, again? And that wind means nothing with these drivers, hitting straight into it. Like rsvman2, some of the longest I've hit in many yrs.. Some, longest ever on certain holes, into the wind.
I may be a beast.🤔 (no polls, please)

Played a 2 person scramble, beat ball. Partner and I shot a 35. The team we were paired with shot a 33.... So I figure that I just donated $20 to the winning team, this time we shall see about improving before the next one.
