Made it out to a nicer course in Virginia Beach for a round today. Started off pretty bad. Three-putt double on the third hole, then on 7 and 8 I had consecutive doubles, both achieved by way of missed 3-foot putts (if that long!). Putting is usually my strong suit, so this messed with my mind a bit.
But, going off what I have really finally internalized this year, I just kept at it. Hole 9 is the number one handicap hole, 10 is the number two handicap hole, and number 11 is the number four handicap hole. I went par, par, par through that tough stretch.
Bogeyed 12 for no reason at all; just a terrible tee shot. On 13 I hit a water hazard and the one-shot penalty caused me to get my second bogey in a row.
But thereafter I went par, birdie, par, par, so that standing on the 18th tee I was only one over on the back nine even with the penalty stroke.
Sadly, I just missed my par putt on 18 and ended up with a two-over 38.
So, 44 with three double bogeys and two missed short putts on the front, 38 with a water shot on the back.
Not that pleased with the overall score, but I was happy that I turned it around after a bad stretch of holes.
Oh, and the weather was spectacular. 71 glorious degrees. Doesn't get much better than that.
