Played Falcoln Ridge in Mesquite today. Absolutely gorgeous views but a few too many blind shots for my liking.
Had a terrific front 9 41 with back to back drives OB. Could've been in the 30's minus those 4 penalty strokes.
Slipped on the back 9 for a 49, just lost a feel for what I was doing. Did rally for a birdie and par on the 16th and 17th.

Shot 86 this weekend. Not sure if it was the cold or hard pins, but my so-so round was lower than most. Annoyed though as my partner and I had lower gross and net scores, won the front by 4, lost back by 1, won the middle and still lost $1 on dots 😡

Par4QC how are those fake Scotty's? I see them on Aliexpress and wonder how they could fuck up a putter where you would actually notice. A set of iron heads maybe because the weights could be a mess, but a putter?

Typhoon The weights in the sole are not moveable. And, a funny thing, the hosels are aluminum. My brother was going to do a special finish on 1 of the heads, so he pulled the shaft and put the head in a bucket of acid, to strip it. When he took it out....no hosel left at all. We laughed like clowns. 🤣

They only cost him something like $22/ea. shipped directly from China. Came in their famous bubblewrap packaging & arrived within a week, DSL, or something like that.

Not everything on AliExpress(he got these thru Alibaba) is fake though. He did get some Diamana shafts that he had specd out and they were genuine.

Par4QC Yeah, I toyed with the idea of getting some TM iron heads but didn't bother...Its the chance you take i guess.

Typhoon You can probably find a really nice (some never hit) set of Sim Max heads, 5-PW, for a great price. If you know where to look. 😉

79 at Fox Hollow with an eagle on the par 5, 15th hole. Got on in two over the water and made the 7 footer. Also, had a big day winning money.

Won 3 matches and tied one (we had an additional match on #18 in garbage time). And won all 3 greenies. Won $15.00. The most anyone could win is $18.00. Assuming just the 3 matches and all 4 greenies.

Lunch was half a tuna sandwich with a cup of ham and bean soup. Weather was gorgeous.

Par4QC What year are those heads? They only make what the Max and the OS?...is there a normal size?

Typhoon 'Normal' was the Max. They are not "Max" size, or even oversized. Not a lot bigger than the 790's, iirc.

Par4QC Yeah, I starting doing some research when I got home on them. They get good reviews and I watched the TXG guys video on them so it looks like green holding would be fine. Nice that they have the .370 hosel for my px shafts. Just seems like a PITA where I’ve never built irons, I’d have to look up how to weight them🙄.

Shot 80 but our team got pummeled. Next to last place with a -5. Game was "low ball high ball". If 1 team member has a net birdie, we count the two lowest balls. If the best ball of the team is a net par, we have to count that par PLUS the teams WORST net ball.

I shot 44-40-84 today at Giant Oak Golf Club in SE Michigan today. Frustrating day.....I tried the
Mike Malaska grip discussed on another thread here, and hit a ton of iron shots left of my target.
Also frustrated by slow play by the two groups in front of us....kept us waiting on literally EVERY
shot all day (At my age, my patience level isn't what it should be, LOL). Anyway, I don't want to
quit after shooting two consecutive rounds in the 80's, so we're going to try it again next week....
hoping for another week of good weather....today was ideal!

fatshot the grip works if you take your hands completely out of the swing and try to keep the clubface square to the swing plane. In other words, no rolling of the forearms on the backswing or on the follow-through.

Thanks....I'm sure my swing is too "handsy," so the grip change was probably something I should have
worked on at the range rather than the golf course. Before next time out I'll try to either get out and practice
or go back to my usual TWO knuckle grip which has been working pretty well all season....

First time today I have had a club in my hands in two weeks. Shot 44-44=88. Pretty happy as it may be the last round of the year. One birdie on the second hole and nothing worse than a double bogey. 30 putts was good, but everyone knows that means you're not hitting GIR.

Pencil bag for 12 holes (holes 2-7 are closed to allow heavy plant access on #2 where we're getting a new ditch) late afternoon. Hit the ball well especially with the driver and wedges (AW and SW were all I had). All pars and bogeys except for one hole where I decided to really - I mean REALLY - go after a drive. My lower half didn't (probably can't!) rotate as fast as my upper and I pull hooked the drive into trees; got it and could play it but so far out of position a bogey would have been a miracle.

A few of the courses are closing here today. Weather is getting nasty, rain/wind/cold. Forecast has S.N.O.W. in it for tomorrow, but just a rain mix.
So, looks like the last round has already been played. I did miss out Mon./Tues. when the temps were in the 60's, but 'duty' called; things to take care of.
Gonna be a longassed, miserable 4+ months. So.......stay off my lawn, you peckerheads!! 🤬

Par4QC I still have hope that we'll play a little more in NW Ohio.....in fact I have tee times for next
Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll cancel the one on the worst weather day, and play on the other one. Supposed to
make it into the 50's one of those two days. Sadly, that may be the end though. Planning on spending a few
weeks in Florida in February though.

Par4QC You’ll be fine, after the first week of not playing you’ll find enough to do to forget golf ever existed. As long as you don’t go in the basement.

I had my birdie ball putting mat downstairs for the winter. 2 years ago the influx of AMPs and now my wife desk for work resides there and the mat is rolled put away. I then had a 6 foot space between her desk and a couch to hit putts. Today she put all the Xmas gifts there.

fatshot We must be having the same weather pattern...next Wed. is showing in the mid/upper 50's. But around here, that could be the 80s & it wouldn't matter, as courses will be closed. They aren't going to open for just 1 day.
