Scorching hot Wednesday but forecast poor for next few days so golf-ghirl persuaded me to play 18, in a ride-on. Maybe shouldn't have bothered - 46+43=89. Shocking start to the round, particularly on our #5 par 3 hole. It's been my nemesis for the past few rounds and has gotten into my head to the point I'm thinking of hitting wedge-wedge and trying to leave a putt for par ... No harm done to hc so on to seniors event at Stirling on Thursday.
And here we are. I'm not a morning person so wasn't too happy the night before when GG (his turn to drive) WhatsApped me with a pickup time of 715am, for an 830am tee time. That was bad enough but the rain (finally) came on #1, stopped on #16, and started again on #18. 6 holes in I switched to rain gloves.
Driver was a bit fadey - I've jinxed it after tinkering with the setting, obviously! - on a few holes but never in any real trouble. Irons solid and zero 3 putts, 1 birdie, 5 or 6 pars, a couple of doubles - 42+41=83, nett 70 (38 stableford, it was a stableford comp). Annoyingly i hit every par 3 green but didn't birdie any of them so no spot prizes.
Sitting tied 2nd when we left so maybe some place money to come although there was still a lot of players on the course, and a few more after that, when we set off home.
