Seniors league match, last home game of the season. WIN! 3.5-0.5. Me and regular partner WIN 1 up in a tight tight match. I dropped a bomb on #3 to go 1 up, they levelled on #5. Wins at #7 and #8 for 2 up ... lost #9 and #10 to fall level again.
Long par 3 #12, they have 1 on the green and 1 on the back fringe. Partner steps and cranks a 5w, bounces and rolls onto green right to left then suddenly veered sharp right - reckon he must have caught the hole to change direction that quickly. I hit 5i, similar line, similar bounce and roll, but just rolled under the cup finishing 10' away. Must have been close to a HIO, but not as close as my partner's. Halved the hole ...
Win #13, lose #16 to go level again. Decent drives into the wind at #17 but my partner (he's 70, not a long hitter) lays up. opponents are both well short of the green. I hit a high 5i that faded on the breeze just enough to avoid a bunker but was pin high. Tricky little chip over the bunker, SW to inches .for a conceded 4 that the opposition couldn't match ... dormie, and halved 18 to preserve our partnership's unbeaten home record (I doubted this yesterday but the team captain had the season stats). Not only unbeaten, we've won every tie.
Along with my card being credited with Β£15 winnings from Tuesday's medal, not a bad day.
