You have to stay positive in golf. The second the word no or any kind of doubt creeps in the shot is corrupted by those negative thoughts. You’re take it one shot at a time. String one good shot next to another one, another one, and another one. When you do flub up, move on. Forget about it and don’t dwell on it.

Boy, is that ever GOOD advice, Jeff...! I don't know how many decent rounds I've screwed up by doubting myself....usually on or around the green!....and led to a costly mistake. Often it's on a putt, questioning my read when I get over the ball; lately, it's been on chips when I question the wedge that I chose or the landing point that I chose when I stood behind the ball. Those two mistakes have cost me more strokes than I care to remember.....seldom is it
the longer shots. I need to learn to TRUST what my initial impression was when I looked at the shot from BEHIND
the ball!

Got out this morning for nine holes. It was ridiculously hot.
Played pretty well. Shot another 38 (par is 35). Had one three putt and one double-chip (very rare for me as the short game has always been my strongsuit.)
The swing changes I have been working through were designed to have a more stable clubface through impact and to make the hands more passive. This is working for me. I still miss shots or hit bad shots, but my missed shots are much better than they used to be. The shots that used to go way left or way right are disappearing. Now my most frequent miss is hitting it slightly too shallow or too deep. Most of the time the ball is staying in play. When I go left or right I am generally only missing the greens by a little bit, leaving easier up and down situations.
Overall I am happy with the changes I have made and am continuing to make.

After a 3 week hiatus, back to seniors league action at home today. Also back to my regular partner and we've not lost at home so far this season ... and still haven't done so! 4&2 win to help the team to a 3.5/0.5 win, and I played probably the best round of golf I've ever played (albeit off the yellow (shorter) tees).

1 double bogey, 4 singles, 9 pars, 2 birdies, 66 gross (+4) for the 16 holes we played. I missed 1 short putt and had 3 lipouts as well ... Unreal.

Normally we play out the matches but our opponents were feeling a bit beaten up so we headed for the bar to buy them a consolation beer.

Update on Tuesday’s half bag 9. On one of my last few drives, I felt/heard a pop in the right knee. Lots of clicking/popping for the rest of the round. It was sore by the time I got home, but not really painful. No real swelling but something isn’t right. Still sore and I just don’t trust that it won’t give out at any point. I’m at the beach currently and walking on the sand is a slow go. Bummed I can’t go too far out to boogie board with my boys. I just don’t feel confident that it won’t give out. Hoping some German lager and a bit of recliner time will help.

Avila Beach is a good, not too hard course. My favorite is Monarch Dunes. You need your A game for that course but it is excellent!

Yes. It's a par 34 back nine, so I was 5 over with a double bogey on 18. It did feel better.
