Greetings gents. For those who too much money to spend on golf, then look into the autoflex shaft. There's a long thread on golfwrx and some videos put out by TXG golf. Anyways, just thought I'd share my thoughts...
Actually I don't have much to say except that I am very intrigued by this shaft and if it wasn't for the retail price of $750 USD or something crazy like that, I would be all over it. The few videos online are intriguing enough and I had the opportunity to take a couple of swings with one the other day. Long story short, at one of my local golf courses, I saw the shaft in a members bag and inquired - sure enough it was the autoflex shaft. He said that 7 or 8 other members have the shaft and all of them have gained significant distance. He was probably in his 60's and I am guessing that most of the members he is talking about are in that demographic. Anyways, he had the 85-95mph shaft and it felt like a noodle when waggling it - essentially like a kids or ladies flex and keep in mind my swing speed is about 110mph and I generally hit 70-80g x-flex shafts. This shaft felt like a 40 gram shaft. I was honestly afraid I might break the shaft if I took a full swing. So, I took a couple of easy practice swings and then a nice smooth driver swing and boom! I hit it dead straight and must've caught it low because it flew like a 2 iron stinger. It went about 240 to 250 yards. Yes that doesn't sound like much but I hit nutted my gamer driver and was maybe only about 10-15 yards ahead. It was weird because it didn't feel that whippy when I swung it and I took such an easy swing. My thinking is that if I actually swung harder with a stiffer flex, and caught the ball closer to the middle of the face, I could have easily hit it significantly farther. Heck, with just the same swing and middle of the face, I would have outdriven my gamer for sure and that was with a swing at about 60-70% effort. Yes, it was only 1 swing but all the reviews of increased distance and better dispersion seem very plausible based on my 1 hit lol. Laugh all you want but after one swing, I am a believer!
So, for you old guys complaining about losing distance and looking to ho new irons or new drivers to compensate, take a serious look at the autoflex. Yes its expensive, but unless your Drake taking money to the grave - just do it! I think the shafts are in the 50g range so even the weakest of the weak can handle it. Yes they are pink or rainbow colored but laughs from the boys will soon dissipate when you consistently outdrive them.
You'll thank me later and if you are so inclined, feel free to donate to my autoflex shaft fund 😄
Happy holidays buzzers!
