i think you could benefit from the new multi material heads that are designed to increase loft and ball speeds off the lower irons. They do work.
jacked lofts didn't change my ball flight but the head design also is a factor.
I used a 21* 4 iron all year and really liked this off the tee on shortish or tight holes. Late season I tried a 22* 4hybrid with a reg flex shaft ( play stiff in all my others and Xstiff in my wedges ) liked the towering trajectory from the 4hy and it was the same distance as my 4iron ( 200-215) but landed softer and seems a bit easier to control. I need to get my psyche around using a 4hybrid though.
