Typhoon The lighter shaft in the Mavrik probably accounted for a couple extra mph in clubhead speed.
Yes the few extra mph of clubhead speed is likely due to the lighter shaft, but also keep in mind that much of the increase in ball speed is likely due to the lower loft which results in a higher smash factor. You will always have a higher ball speed to swing speed ratio with a lower lofted club.
It's also worth pointing out the drastic difference in the profile of the shafts too - one being an extremely stiff tip low-launch low-spin profile, while the other is more of a mid-launch/mid-spin design. If you were to hit the Mavrik with the same DG shaft I'm sure the backspin and apex numbers would be considerably lower, thus reducing the stopping power.
Like I mentioned before, it would be interesting to see the comparison of the same lofted clubs with the same shafts in them. Yes one club will be 1" longer than the other, but it would give you more of an apples-to-apples comparison since the lofts and shafts will be the same which are going to affect the numbers much more than a 1" difference in shaft length. Or hell, you could even throw 14-15g of lead tape on the back of the Nike head and choke down 1" and then it'll really be a fair head to head comparison!
