Rickochet Might be cargo in a new episode of Ice Road Truckers. πŸ™‚. USPS might be trying hard to convince us they need more operating funds, but I think they are only making themselves more likely to be obsoleted.

johnnydoom but I think they are only making themselves more likely to be obsoleted.

And the other option is? My understanding is that they are over burdened by their retirement system, not because of lazy workers. Congress needs to deal with this and overhaul the system. I think USPS will always be here. It just needs fixing.

Rickochet I don't think it is lazy workers. I think it is more of a blue flu situation. I believe they (not every employee, but enough union management to impact everyone) are intentionally trying to make people feel the pain as a means to lobby the congress for increased postal rates and more federal subsidies. As for alternatives, without opening up people's mail boxes for competition we'll never know if there is a viable alternative or not.

I don't know what everyone's problem with USPS is! They work their asses off this time of year, and I have proof....1 day from NJ to my doorstep.....

Par4QC That package must really hate Iowa for some reason. Got there and thought "No. Let's go back to the start and take a different route this time." Maybe it feels the same way about Iowa that Little Bill thought of Nebraska.

Par4QC I don't know what everyone's problem with USPS is! They work their asses off this time of year, and I have proof....1 day from NJ to my doorstep.....

Now watch them put it on the wrong porch.

They have been sending a package back and forth between our PO here in Mason and the one in Middletown since 11/27. Reason, they said because my step daughter paid for it, but she had it shipped here to my address, it's on the fucking box!! She lives in West Chester and that's the address the payment is from. The Middletown PO is 18 miles from my house and 5 miles (or so) from hers. Mason's PO is about 2 miles from my house. How does the address of the payment have any fucking thing to do with the address on the box???

            WTF is going on???

Plenty of lazy ass employees work for the PO. Ask their employees yourself, I have.

When you can't hardly fire someone, that's a recipe for a disgruntled workforce and poor work. Bosses become jaded, they take it out on employees. Good employees become resentful. Bad employees screw up and make everyone miserable.

Rickochet Now watch them put it on the wrong porch.

We had a case of this with a delivery from FedEx earlier this summer. The wife has been working from home since this crap started and decided a new desk was in order for the home office. We purchased one of those put them together yourself desks online... nice desk, but a PITA to put together. Anyway when FedEx delivers they drop it off on our neighbor's porch and don't tell her. She's 96 and notices the boxes the next day and let's us know. There are 3 boxes and I think the lightest one was like 75lb. So I put the wagon on the back of the lawn tractor, loaded them up (got them in one load with my wife holding), and back home. We've had FedEx throw boxes in bushes at work, leave refrigerate upon arrival stuff at neighbors (again at work), toss boxes out in the middle of the driveway, show up at 11:00 at night, etc. I guess that's part of living in the middle of BFE, but it never happens with UPS or USPS.

Rickochet Don't think will happen. The Postmaster at the local office has been looking out for this package, and sending me daily updates, which I'd already seen.

johnnydoom Ioway is full of varmints, can't be trusted.

(here comes Wendell with a post... and maybe a couple others hereπŸ˜† )

Natpharm I guess that's part of living in the middle of BFE, but it never happens with UPS or USPS.

I get more f-ups with UPS than USPS. Many times my postman has told me he saw a UPS package on my neighbor's porch with our name on it. So, now if I get a delivery notice but no package from UPS I check my neighbor's porch and it is usually there.

Packaged delivered; 1 day from NJ to IL.. USPS is the greatest. πŸ˜†

This package has been 'around the horn', but looks like something I just took to the P.O. myself.....not a scratch, smudge, dirt, nothing, on it. No torn edges. Not a damn thing wrong with it. Small flat rate box inside a flat rate envelope, and so heavy my wife couldn't lift it out of the mailbox. SMH

A historic amount of packages and rising employee Covid-19 rates are causing significant backlogs at US Postal Service processing facilities before Christmas.

All the shopping and shipping Americans have done in the last few weeks has inundated the system with what the USPS says is a "historic volume" of mail and packages.
"The packages are up to the ceiling" in Philadelphia, local American Postal Workers Union president Nick Casselli told CNN. "I've been in postal for 35 years, I've never seen what I'm seeing."

If I have 2 send a package 100 miles, They are meeting me 1/2 way... SAFER

Still waiting on my logical one putter. It’s delayed In transit. Going on day 10 now since it was shipped β€œpriority mail.”
