My irons, all of them, ever, have been trying to tell me something. But I just can't understand what they are saying.
Hit down a little and hit the little ball first, I did get that part.
Is it too much to ask as a 10 handicapper to have a 10 handicap iron game??? Where do you effing start? I hit wedges nicely. But I'm not trying to kill them. So that tells me I should be able to do that with irons. Right? I usually can carry that feeling up to about the 7 iron. Above the 7 iron I'm swinging harder. Too hard? Probably. Trying to get the ball up and out. Get up Don! (Crossfield reference.) I swing a mid iron 75 MPH, so not fast.
Maybe my irons are trying to tell me to trust them to do the work for me. Yeah, like I can trust something that has betrayed me my whole life. Sure thing.
Maybe they are saying, "You're too weak, you need hybrids." Cripes. Those things are even worse. Jeckyll and Hyde-brids. No thanks, when I want to hit 150, if I am going to miss, I want to know what the miss will be. To put the club on the ball solidly, and know where the miss is. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?????
Maybe they are saying, "Switch to a high-flying super ball, swing easier and be happy!" Well my chipping will not be as good, and I do play on small, elevated, hard greens. I dunno about giving up the spin.
I should try vintage blades. Aim small, miss small. What could go wrong?
