Honestly, it's all crap. The best advice I ever received about golf came from Geoff Oglivy....
Just be an athlete, stop consuming so much golf swing crap. His quote, not mine..
Clear your head. Make an athletic move to the ball and deliver the club face, period.......can forgiving clubs help, sure. But miracle cure? no way
Other than that, If you don't have a 7 wood get one. Most versatile club out there. You can get a 15-20 yard spread on yardages and control it by gripping down.
I've seen good athletes hit every type of club head and shaft combination known to man and hit it well. (see Rick Shiels)
I've seen bad athletes get professionally fitted and still struggle.
Your personal tempo can be worked on but not changed. If you normally are upbeat and quick about your business don't try to play golf with sloth tempo, doesn't work.
I've had so many clubs it isn't even funny. When did I get better? When I let athletic instinct take over.
Think about being the athlete you were as a kid. Your instincts told you what to do...
That's a big thing we used to teach in junior golf and then cause and effect. That way kids know how to fix their OWN swing.
You hear all this crap about clearing the hips, lag, yada yada yada...if your buttons aren't on the ball at impact with some sort of athleticism then it's a random event.
Think back, every God fearing American boy our age played baseball. Baseball translates to every sport. Trust me I've raised two college athletes and used baseball to teach one golf and the other volleyball.
Let what you remember about baseball help you.
Get the barrel or club face out in front of you and watch contact. The best hitters always get the handle moving first and fire the barrel or club face in this case. Then you can begin to know your personal tendencies and misses. Doesn't matter how you do it, golf is a results oriented game.
The best drill I ever saw and may help you, was a tee in front of the ball with any club you hit. Hammer the nail with an iron and FW and sweep over it with the driver. Takes you mind off the sphere...
I would work on that before you change equipment again.....Been there, done that.
