I finally shafted up my STW2. I got a UST V2 Tour 6F4 from someone at Golfwrx, Matched up the graphics to the 6F5 I have and the 6F4 was 1 inch off. Seller said it wasn't tipped, but it appears it may be so I left the shaft 3/4 inch longer than I would typically play to leave room to pull and trim if necessary. The driver looks MUCH better in person than in the catalog. Still not a huge fan of the gold paint. Tried to remove it with paint remover, but it made no dent. I may try to put some black touch up paint over the dot on the head.
Performance - I think that the shaft wasn't right, whether too whippy or just too long. Hit a couple of beautiful drives, but too many heel shots. Not the cub's fault. Sound was pretty good, especially when struck on center, but a little tinny when caught on the heel. Played at my friend's club, so I had access to the driving range after the round and I was able to get my swing grooved. Ball took off very nicely. I have a 10* and the flight was high (I am a high ball hitter), but not ballooning at all. I wasn't the initial buyer, so I don't know if it was handpicked or random. Others have talked about a fade bias. I didn't notice it. I hit some mild fades, but those were due to a bad swing and the fades weren't nearly as bad as I had with my Cobra F6+.
I think it is worth a try. If you hit the ball high, I would ask for a handpick closer to 9*.
As an aside, while gluing up the STW2, I glued up the ST-2 that I got from Colej. I used the 6F5 shaft so I could make some type of comparison. I know that the head was handpicked to 9* and it showed. I was hitting rockets with that club. The ball just took off and ran when it landed. I think this head may be a sleeper. Probably could have saved myself a few hundred dollars had I shafted this up earlier.
