Buzzers, a short review on this golfworks driver after playing 1 round...
About me - Swing speed in the 110mph range, baby fade is my preferred shot shape
The build: OG grafalloy blue x-flex, untipped, 46.5" playing length
Looks: The driver looks great in my opinion, as good as any OEM driver, No carbon fibre and with the fins, kind of looks like a ping knockoff, but not in a bad way. Similar footprint to my rogue. It came in on spec at 203g and looked pretty square to the naked eye
Sound and feel - obviously this is completely subjective, but I really enjoyed the sound and feel of the driver, compared to my rogue sub zero, sound and feel were definitely more solid and crisp, especially on mishits (the rogue sounds like crap when you miss high - hollow sound and feels like you are hitting a 1 piece ball even if you are playing pro v1s. Basically the sound and feel should appeal to just about everyone
Performance: I have been gaming a Callaway rogue sub zero the last couple of years and I love this driver. It's long and forgiving and it just works. Compared to the Rogue sz, the STw2 held its own quite nicely. Of course, only 1 round in the books but I must say it performed as good or better in my opinion than my rogue sz.
Launch: Compared to my 10.5 deg rogue sz (with the grafalloy blue), launch looked to be about the same.
Forgiveness: As good as the rogue on a few high misses that I had (but without the crap feel and sound). I didn't miss low on the face so can't compare to the rogue.
Spin: hard to say. Fairways were wet so getting no roll, but overall seemed pretty similar to the rogue - definitely no ballooning high spinners. Its hard for me to comment on whether this is a low spin head but it seemed very similar to the sub zero.
Distance: again very similar to the rogue and on a few holes I hit some bombs that indicate it may be a bit longer but really without a launch monitor, just too many variables to know for sure.
Workability: Not my strong suit as I tend to just a high cut predominantly but I did try to hit a draw on a few holes and overcooked a couple into the left rough and one stayed dead straight. So for me, as workable as anything I have ever played but again, working the ball is something I generally don't do often
Overall - A solid offering from golfworks. My first impressions are that this driver is as good as the rogue sz with better sound and feel. In terms of distance and forgiveness, I'll need a few more rounds to really comment on this but no complaints after the first round. The lack of face angle adjustability is not a big deal to me as I generally play all my drivers in the neutral position anyways. The only negative I can really see is that this driver only comes in 2 lofts. I'd like to see this in an 8 or 9 deg but I guess with the KE4 TC at 9 deg, there really is no need to have this lofted lower. The other nice thing is that if you wanted to add weight to the driver, its pretty easy as removing the sole weight gives a nice opening to stuff the head with cotton balls or yarn if you want. I like heavy heads and at 46.5 inches, I like 200-205g head so 203g was perfect.
Verdict: If you are on the fence about this driver, don't be, jump right in and get one! Its a great value for the price and it looks and performs as good as any premium OEM driver
Happy ho'ing!!!
