Thanks for the kind words! I need to dampen my humblebrag a bit. Let's make it clear that I do not have the game to be a blade player. Remember, I'm only hitting blades in 7 iron thru wedges and mostly, 8 iron thru wedges. I won't go near a 4, 5, 6 iron blade, because I know better. My 31 degree club is a big fat hybrid! MANY of my pars today were scrambling shots with my 52 and 56 wedges and some longish putt saves.

P.S. I may have a nice set of Snake Eyes 600c for sale soon. Shhhhhhh....

      Your bag sounds a lot like mine! 5 and 6 hybrid, then 7-pw, and an assortment of wedges (that cycle in an out of favor!). I hit 6 greens today (about normal), and chipped and putted for the majority of my pars.....

        I'm having an iron crisis. I just can't hit the damn things. Even on my good days the iron play is the shakiest part of my game. The last few times, hoo boy. I'm resisting the urge to tinker around the edges. The only sensible head change that makes sense right now is hybrid irons, or real shovels. But the way I'm swinging them, I don't think either of those is the answer. I need to start hitting them flush, somehow.

        I suspect I need heavier shafts but I really really don't want to play steel. And the heavy graphites out there are expensive and play like boards.

        I've fallen and I can't get up. Bleepin' game.

          DonM Not sure what flex you are needing, but these shafts have some weight. If you need the 'old man' flex, RBG is cheap. Monark has all flexes. I have used them in the past and will say they do flex(soft tip), so if you are looking at R, I'd probably trim for S, depending on swing.

              Thanks. I am thinking more in the 90-something gram range.

              I have a half set of FST 90s that James made up for me. I'll give them another go. Steel, I know. At least they should tell me something.

              The funny thing about super light shafts like the 64g ones I'm using now, is that some days I am on with them. But I can't put several swings in a row on them and have them all be decent. I have to grind too much with them. What I think happens is that the "too light" shows up at transition and into the downswing. The timing of body vs arms goes bad.

                  Don...have you tried putting about 20g of lead tape on the graphite shaft to up the ante ?
                  It is one way to test if weight is the issue. Just spiral wrap it about 14" down from the grip end.
                  It might tell you something. YMMV.

                      Maybe. Add enough lead tape to bring the shaft weight up to the steel approximation.
                      i.e. 70g graphite + 20 grams of lead = 90 g steel equivalent. It may dampen the feel a
                      bit but will give you a chance to test trajectory & weight. Worth the effort.

                        You and I both know it isn't your clubs. Go to the range, go over your basics, choke down and do 3/4 swings until your striking it well again. Something is amiss in your setup, swing path, tempo, etc.

                            I went back to Alpha RX-1's (some offset and larger CB head) on KBS Tour 120 steel 4.5fm. Restored my confidence and hit them solid probably all because of the weight of the steel shaft. Light graphite in so many ways are debilitating for me.

                                No it is my clubs. I’ve fought this since I built this set late last summer. I love the height I get, which comes in very handy on my course in Arizona and here in Illinois. That’s why I’ve kept going with them. But all along I was struggling to keep a feel for the club during the swing.

                                It’s time to fix it.

                                          As an educated guess, (based on my RxPros) it appears to be approx.30mm and the same as the bore depth.

                                            Don---What about Apollo Phantom R/S steel? I remember you liked that shaft. I am building a test 7i Dynacraft Prophet MB on an Apollo Phantom to see about head and shaft.

                                              I loved the test club I built with it. But when I built the set, some of them felt odd and not good.

                                                OK, had a good day today. Hit 11 greens.

                                                I used my previous set of irons, with 80 gram graphite instead of the 64 grams I've been playing. Pretty big difference.
                                                I might try the lead tape on the shafts again, but another time.

                                                Right now I'm liking where this is going, and I plan to get my FST 90 set built. Somewhere in that 80-100 gram range is my sweet spot, I'm pretty sure.
