Typhoon Shop around for a 'mobile mechanic', they come to your place and do the work. Typically a lot less than shops charge, and much better service, from my experiences.
No drop off and 'we'll call when done'!!
And it's not just about the $$ factor. Usually they have a flat rate quote for whatever is to be done, and no padding the parts costs. At least that's the way mine does it. He makes extra profit when buying the parts at the same place I would buy them....he gets a discount, but charges me 'book' price, same as if I walked in and got them myself. Can't begrudge him that. Room is left for tipping and still is way under any shop cost.
