I've been on vacation this week.
This morning I woke up and heard a strange humming sound. Further investigation revealed our sump pump had failed. The motor must have locked up. But we have a backup pump so I unplugged it and went back to bed.
Unfortunately, one of the fittings on the backup pump worked loose and it was spraying water making the carpet nearby wet. Most of the water was going out, but enough wasn't to make a bit of a mess.
So I ran to Lowes to pickup a new pump and after pulling out the old one, I realized it was smaller than the old one. Back to Lowes to buy the correct one. When I started trying to put things together, I realized I had bought the wrong size fittings. Back to Lowes for a third time. Fortunately, Lowes is less than two miles away and easy to get to. I'll have to go back one more time to return the first pump and the wrong fittings.
After that I got the new pump in place and the fitting on the backup pump fitting back in place and tightened.
Now to figure out what to to with the rest of the day!
