Bravopilot Tough lady--broken ribs, not going to the ER. Wish her well. A nice benefit of a large family.
Tough ... stubborn ... probably a combo! Our hospitals are pretty stuffed due to increased Covid cases and lower staffing numbers (a lot of Europeans opted not to stay here post Brexit) so she "didn't want to bother anybody ...".
From what I can gather the driver did stop and was very apologetic. I know the location where it happened and it's likely his claim- blinded by low sun during a sharp right turn - is genuine. She can't explain why she never saw him so there may have been some fault on her part (I know I know - the driver needs to be EXTRA careful, he's the one carrying speed and weight), so no citation (not sure the police were even called). Didn't want to grill her on it, let the shock settle first.
Anyway, she was feeling better today (grandson was there when I arrived, the A&E consultant), and the rest of the family are taking it in turns to drop in and check on her, make sure she's eating properly and taking her meds.
I dropped in after a meeting with a local foodbank (going to be doing some volunteer driving for them in the New Year) then home for lunch and a dog walk. Another charity pickup/dropoff tomorrow, and taking some excess donations from dropoff to charity shops.
