sdandrea1 I remember my mom bringing home a box of cereal that was all yellow, with bold, black lettering. Can't recall what type cereal it was, most likely shredded wheat, that she liked. It only cost 'pennies' compared to the Nabisco. At that time, a lot of items that were starting to sell in the local stores were 'Made in Japan', so I thought wth is she doing...buying cereal from our local "Tokyo Jungle"?(a local store that sold almost all cheap Japanese made products--rare at that time) It was a few weeks later & I was watching 60 minutes, when they were having a segment on 'generic' products, mainly cereal. It did show the production line of a cereal co.. Coming down the 2 lines were the boxes and they would go under the hopper for filling, then move on. 1 line had the brand name boxes, the other line had the yellow/black boxes....exact same product going in to both.
Even back then, it must have been an 'OEM vs. Generic' thing for those seen carrying out groceries. Nowadays, generic cereal is crap, for the most part.
