Over the past few days I built a workbench here in AZ. The top is 2 layers of 3/4" plywood, topped by tempered hardboard. It's 72 x 30 inches, 36 high. My main goal was to make it stout enough that it will be a good mount for the Mitchell L/L machine you see in the photo. I have not attached anything to it yet. I'm trying to decide what can go where. I built a couple more of the Vertex irons and just clamped the vise and frequency meter clamp as needed. I bought some T-nuts, and plan to install them under the top so that I can easily install/remove the L/L, vise, and freq meter to maximize the working space. Basically there is working room for any two of the three at a given moment. And I have a small bench grinder that will also be in the mix. I was going to wait and not post photos until it's all laid out and magazine-ready, lol. But that day might never happen. π
At some point I will build some drawers, after I've used it a while to see what I need. I have enough hardboard left that I am going to use it to protect the walls for 18 inches high, above the bench. I put a 2 x 4 foot pegboard above the bench. During the Christmas sales I bought the tool box stand drawers for $99. I bought the box itself at a garage sale here. The light above the bench is the Harbor Freight 4 foot LED one. I have to tell you, it's great! It's $29.99 normally, and $19.99 on sale, frequently enough if you have any patience. There is a coupon out now for it for their President's Day sale Feb 14-17.
