fatshot We usually have enough wind that a fairway wood greater than 24 or 25 degrees can be hard to control the distance. I would say that my swing speed is still too high for the 29, 33, 37 degree XDS Fairway heads I bought. But they could be great for super seniors.

A hybrid should be the right choice for me. But I’ve been using long, light ones and I get fairly big misses left and right. Especially left

      As Scott says, they have a lot of onset because of the higher lofts. But, I think that keeps them from being hook machines. From my quick experience today, it flew plenty high and was much easier to control at 37.75” than my normal one at 39”. Same shafts btw. At that length I can hit it like an iron, or at least close to the same swing. Might need the ball forward a bit. At 39” my other one is not an iron swing but not quite a fairway wood swing. That annoys me.

        I chipped 3 times today from 50-60 feet by using a putting stroke with the 6h. I only converted one of them but the other two were acceptable, considering I had no experience. Being shorter and heavier made it better for chipping.

          Shaft is too light with too much flex. Though the UST iRN shaft is a stiffer shaft profile.

          Since I use steel in frwy woods Louisville Golf #9 27 deg. and #11 30 deg. I don't get the ultra high trajectory. It's more highish with penetration with steel TT Dynalite .335 this is missing from lots of senior graphite choices.

            I think it's more from a Hireko design of having higher lofted short irons and wedges that you can't shank. JMO Don.

              This is the way I play a lot. I call it Ray Floyd chipping or some guys call it toe down chipping.

                Last night's project....received and built these wedges....forged, slightly oversized, nice grooves with light milled surface swirls. The only negative was these are actually .355 hosels so I had to ream these to .370 which is a slight pita when you didn't expect that. Currently sporting regular Apollo Humps.
