Typhoon
I was a high school teacher for 39 years (and golf coach for 20 of those years). I retired at age 60, then went to work part time as an academic advisor at a local community college. Both teaching and advising were great jobs, as far as I was concerned.....loved them both. After 7 years of advising I retired for good (that was 6 years ago). Since then, I've been able to play more golf (twice a week plus 1 practice session) during the season.
The season ended early this year, so lately I've been a little bored....luckily, I've rediscovered reading during the retirement years (working my way through all of John Jakes' stuff right now!). I have been slacking off on the handyman stuff though, so I've made my mind up on several projects around the house that I want to complete this winter.
We usually go to Florida for a month in Jan. or Feb., but may have to pass that up this year, as our youngest son and his wife just had our 6th grandchild, and daughter-in-law starts back to work Jan 1; so we may pick up some temporary baby-sitting duties until they can work out something "permanent" (I know.....sounds like WE may be the permanent solution...).
But otherwise, every day really IS like a Saturday, and I am enjoying my retirement....
