Mt wife and I retired at age 62, in 2001. We relocated to Charleston SC so we could play golf year round. After two years of doing nothing we each got a bit bored and got part time jobs. She worked helping publish a monthly magazine for a statewide, professional trade group. I went to work as a computer tech for an office supply big box. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 so we relocated to Columbia SC to be near family.
My wife died in 2015 thus I became single. I decided I would not remarry nor have a live-in lady friend. I wanted a young and healthy, casual lady friend. Long story short, I found one but this post is about what to do in retirement.
I play golf 2-3 times a week. Usually I have lunch and a few drinks after golf then I come home and take a nap. I get up about 5, have another drink and decide about supper. On non-golf days, I leave the house almost everyday to run errands just to keep myself busy. Like grocery shopping 2-3 times a week versus one big grocery run. Out to breakfast late morning. In the evening, I typically have 2 drinks between 5-7 while watching local and national news and I think about supper. Last night it was chinese takeout. My lady friend and I have drinks, dinner, and a "sleep over" usually once a week. The key is to stay busy. Get up and out.......
